Variations

  • Swap the chocolate brownie mix with red velvet, salted caramel, or double chocolate brownie mix.
  • Fold chopped nuts like almonds, walnuts, or pecans into the batter for a little extra crunch.
  • Add up to a cup of chocolate chips for an even bolder chocolate flavor.
  • Use a gluten-free brownie mix and 1:1 all-purpose gluten-free flour to keep this recipe gluten-free.

Directions for How to Make Cream Cheese Brownies with Box Mix

  1. Prepare: Before you begin, preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Then, grease a 13×9 baking dish with cooking spray, and set it aside.
  2. Make the brownie mix: Prepare the brownie mix according to the package instructions. Then, transfer it to the prepared pan, spreading it out smoothly.
  3. Create the cheesecake layer: Use an electric mixer to blend the butter, softened cream cheese, and sugar until smooth. Then, add the eggs, vanilla, and flour, and mix just until smooth.
  4. Swirl: Dollop the cream cheese mixture over the brownie batter. Then, use a knife to swirl it around, creating a marbled effect.
  5. Bake: Transfer the cheesecake brownies to the oven, and bake until they’re set and slightly brown on top. A toothpick inserted into the center should come out clean or with just a few moist crumbs!
  6. Serve: Score the tops of the brownies while they’re hot. Then, let them cool completely in the pan before slicing, and enjoy!

Serving Suggestions

These cheesecake-swirled brownies are plenty decadent on their own. However, they’re also great topped with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream! Feel free to add a drizzle of caramel sauce or chocolate sauce, too.
