The ultimate crowd-pleasing sheet pan sliders

I was recently browsing through my slider recipes looking for some game day snacks to serve alongside garlic parmesan wings and I realized that I never posted a recipe for cheeseburger sliders, which are the original type of slider!
I think I prefer these baked cheeseburger sliders to actual cheeseburgers because instead of fussing with forming the ground beef into patties, you simply brown the beef in a skillet and transfer it to the bottom half of the sweet Hawaiian rolls. The mayo and cheese (lots of it!) help hold the sliders together.
Here are just a few reasons you’ll love them:
- Perfect for parties or family dinners: These sliders are easy to make in a big batch and feed a crowd. Great for game day or quick dinners!
- The ground beef cooks in one pan: No flipping individual burgers!
- Soft, buttery, golden tops: The brushed butter gives the buns a delicious finish.
- Customizable for any taste: Add bacon, pickles, or your favorite sauces.

Ingredients You’ll Need

See recipe card below this post for ingredient quantities and full instructions.
- Lean ground beef – Ground turkey will work too for a lighter option.
- White onion – A yellow onion will work, too.
- American cheese slices – You can’t have cheeseburger sliders without cheese!
- Cheddar/mozzarella blend – For extra melty goodness.
- Hawaiian rolls – You can use another type of dinner roll if you can’t find sweet Hawaiian rolls.
- Butter – This helps the tops of the buns get toasty and golden.
- Sesame seeds – These add a bit of nutty flavor and crunch.
- Other seasonings – You will need garlic powder, black pepper, and salt. You will also need some olive oil.
Variations
The best thing about mini burgers is that you can switch up the recipe to make it your own. Try one of these variations!
- Bacon Cheeseburger Sliders: Add cooked, crumbled bacon before the cheese.
- BBQ Sliders: Mix a little barbecue sauce into the beef.
- Hawaiian-Style: Use Hawaiian rolls and add a sweet-and-savory sauce.
- Mushroom Swiss: Top the beef with sautéed mushrooms and Swiss cheese.
- Spicy Jalapeño: Add sliced jalapeños and pepper jack cheese.
How to Make Cheeseburger Sliders
These sheet pan sliders are perfect for the whole family and come together easily. Instead of forming individual patties, you’ll just layer the cooked ground beef over the rolls and top with the remaining ingredients.

- Prepare: Cook the beef, preheat the oven, and place the bottoms of the rolls on a buttered pan.

- Start assembling: Add the slices of cheese to the bottoms of the rolls, then top this with the ground beef mixture.

- Finish assembling: Sprinkle the ground beef with the shredded cheese, then gently press the tops of the rolls over this. Brush the rolls with the melted butter and sprinkle them with sesame seeds.

- Bake: Place the baking sheet in the oven and bake at 350ºF for 15 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and the tops of the cheeseburger sliders are golden brown.

What to Serve With Cheeseburger Sliders
- Air fryer French fries or sweet potato fries
- Copycat KFC coleslaw, creamy potato salad or pasta salads
- Onion rings
- Dill pickle spears or chips
- Corn on the cob (I love this Instant Pot corn on the cob!)
- Baked beans for a classic cookout-style meal
How to Store and Reheat Leftovers
- Refrigerator: Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
- Freezer: Wrap sliders tightly and freeze for up to 2 months.
- Reheating: Warm in a 325°F oven for 10–15 minutes or until heated through.

- 2 lbs lean ground beef
- 2 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp black pepper
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- ½ white onion diced
- ¼ cup mayonnaise
- 8 slices American cheese
- 8 oz cheddar/mozzarella blend shredded
- 12 Hawaiian roll sliders one package
- 2 tbsp butter melted, plus more to grease baking sheet
- 1 tbsp sesame seeds
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350˚F. Butter the bottom of a rimmed baking sheet.
- Place a large skillet over medium/high heat with 1/2 Tbsp olive oil. Add diced onion and ground beef. Break up and cook over medium high heat until cooked through.
- Drain excess fat and return to skillet.
- Season with salt, pepper, and garlic powder.
- Stir in mayonnaise.
- Cut buns in half and place the bottom half of the rolls on a baking sheet.
- Add slices of cheese to the bottom of the buns.
- Spread ground beef mixture evenly over the sliced cheese. Top with shredded cheese.
- Place the top of buns over the burgers. Brush tops melted butter and sprinkle with sesame seeds.
- Bake at 350˚F for 15 minutes, or until cheese is melted and the tops are golden brown.
Notes
- Press the beef into an even layer so it cooks uniformly.
- Don’t overbake—this keeps the buns soft and the beef juicy.
- Cover loosely with foil if the tops brown too quickly.
- Let sliders rest for a few minutes before slicing for cleaner portions.
- Use a serrated knife to cut through the rolls easily.
