Tips For Making Tortellini in the Instant Pot
Can you overcook tortellini?
You can, but pressure cooking to the right degree is where the Instant Pot shines. You shouldn’t have to worry about overcooking as long as you follow the simple directions.
How do I reheat leftover tortellini?
It’s not hard to reheat but you may notice that it’s a bit drier once you do. Just add a dollop of butter or some extra cheese to give it back some of that moisture and taste.
Pop it in the microwave for a few seconds or heat it low and slow back up in the Instant Pot.
What else can you top tortellini with?
I LOVE topping it with freshly grated parmesan cheese, but cilantro and chives are a great choice, too. The kids also really love as much cheese as possible so added even more shredded cheese on top is a great plan as well.

The flavor was good but there was way too much water following the recipe as is. Our dinner was more like a soup. Iโm glad I added some better than bullion when sautรฉing the veggies because otherwise I think just the water would have diluted the flavor too much.
Thank you for the feedback, Tera!
We love this recipe, & have added it into our rotation! I always double, use refrigerated tortellini, & add ground Italian sausage with the onion & garlic, plus I add a can of diced tomatoes, and it comes out perfectly every time! (I do omitted red pepper but only because I usually donโt have it) This recipe is a busy, weeknight-dinner winner ~ itโs SO simple, and my whole family enjoys it! Thank you for a great recipe!
Thank you so much, Lisa! We’re happy to hear it’s such a hit. ๐
Have you ever tried adding cooked ground beef?
This sounds good, but was wondering if you used frozen tortellini?
Thanks!
Made this last night and I was very surprised how it turned out, just as good when I’ve made it on the stove. I thought it would stick together but it was all seperated and nice and saucy. Cooked it unfrozen just from the fridge and 4 minutes longer as we like it soft. I did do some onion, celery, garlic and carrots first. Saves so much time and effort. Fully recommend this recipe. Thank you
