Ingredients Needed:
- 4 chicken breasts, boneless and skinless
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon coarse ground black pepper
- ยฝ teaspoon garlic powder
- 4 tablespoons flour – You can also use panko bread crumbs as well.
- 2 large eggs – I like cage-free eggs best.
- 1 cup Italian bread crumbs
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese – Freshly grated cheese is so flavorful!
- 2 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 1 23oz jar of your favorite marinara sauce – If you have a homemade marinara sauce, use that here!
- 4 slices mozzarella cheese
This easy recipe makes for a delicious dinner any night of the week and is made in under 30 minutes! This is an easy chicken dinner the whole family will love!

How to make Baked Chicken Parmesan
Step 1
Preheat an oven to 425 degrees.
Step 2
Put the chicken breasts between two pieces of saran wrap or parchment paper and using a rolling pin or flat kitchen mallet – flatten each breast to 1/2 inch thickness then season with salt, pepper, and garlic powder.
Step 3
In three separate bowls or small dishes add the flour to one, eggs to one (and beat until combined), and the Italian breadcrumbs and parmesan cheese to the other (and mix).
Step 4
Dredge the chicken in the flour, then the egg, and finally press it into the breadcrumb mixture.
Step 5
Add the olive oil and butter to a cast-iron skillet on medium-high heat and cook the chicken for 3-4 minutes on each side until golden brown.
Step 6
Add the marinara to a 9×13 baking dish and top with chicken, Add a few tablespoons of marinara to the top of the chicken breasts and top with the mozzarella cheese slices.
Step 7
Bake for 15 minutes or until chicken is 160 degrees internally.
Step 8
Serve the sauce and chicken breast over angel hair pasta and top with parmesan cheese.
Tips or Variations
- You can always add more melted mozzarella cheese on top. You can’t go wrong with more cheese!
- Make certain that the panko crust is golden brown before removing it from the oven if you decide to use that as a mixture and coating.
