Baked Chicken Parmesan

The Best Baked Chicken Parmesan has a  crispy coating made with Italian breadcrumbs and grated parmesan cheese, smothered in a store-bought marinara sauce and sliced mozzarella cheese for an easy dinner any night of the week!

  • 4 chicken breasts boneless and skinless
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon coarse ground black pepper
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • 4 tablespoons flour
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup Italian bread crumbs
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 23 oz jar of your favorite marinara sauce
  • 4 slices mozzarella cheese


  • Preheat an oven to 425 degrees
  • Put the chicken breasts between two pieces of saran wrap or parchment paper and using a rolling pin or flat kitchen mallet - flatten each breast to 1/2 inch thickness then season with salt, pepper, and garlic powder.
  • In three separate bowls or small dishes add the flour to one, eggs to one (and beat until combined) and the Italian breadcrumbs and parmesan cheese to the other (and mix).
  • Dredge the chicken in the flour, then the egg and finally press it into the breadcrumb mixture.
  • Add the olive oil and butter to a cast-iron skillet on medium-high heat and cook the chicken for 3-4 minutes on each side until golden brown
  • Add the marinara to a 9x13 baking dish and top with chicken, Add a few tablespoons of marinara to the top of the chicken breasts and top with the mozzarella cheese slices.
  • Bake for 15 minutes or until chicken is 160 degrees internally
  • Serve the sauce and chicken breast over angel hair pasta and top with parmesan cheese
