It’s rich and full of flavor, yet light and creamy. A favorite with everyone who’s tried it, you can’t miss on this no-bake dessert for your next potluck or family dinner!

This No-Bake Oreo Dessert is a quick and easy no-bake dessert you're gonna love!  This chocolate dessert is made up of pudding, cream cheese, cool whip, and Oreos, of course.

Ingredients

See the recipe card below this post for ingredient quantities and full instructions.

  • Oreos
  • Butter
  • Cream cheese – softened.
  • Instant vanilla instant pudding – do not make the pudding AND use the milk below. Only add the 3 cups in these directions.
  • Cool Whip
  • Milk – Some people have had trouble with this setting up – I have not. I’ve used skim, 2% and whole milk. I believe that WHOLE MILK is best.
  • Sugar

How-To Make Oreo Dessert:

1. Crush Oreos: In a 9×13 pan crush the Oreos, saving a few for topping later. Pour melted butter over crushed Oreos.

2. Mix: In a large bowl, mix together with a mixer – instant pudding & milk until thickened. Then add the cream cheese and sugar – mix well.

3. Add Cool Whip: Fold Cool Whip into the pudding mixture and spread over Oreos.

4. Add Topping And Chill: Sprinkle remaining crushed Oreos on top. Chill for 2-3 hours before serving.

Tips for Success

  • I made this batch with Double Stuffed Oreos, but you could really use any flavor of Oreo you’d like, along with changing up the pudding used, as well! Next time, I’m going with Mint Oreos!
  • Do NOT follow the directions on the box of pudding and add in the milk from the box. Only add in the milk from the recipe below.
  • Be sure to chill for several hours before eating. While it’s delicious as soon as it’s made, it’s even better when it has time to sit.

Note: please add a step at the beginning to thaw the cool whip.

Brand new cooks who may not know this will ruin this dessert by trying desperately to “fold” in frozen cool whip. 🙁

  2. Caroline says:

If it isn’t setting, could I put it in the freezer to help it set? I want to bring it in to work tomorrow, but I’m worried it won’t set overnight in the fridge since it has been in there for around 5 hours already. Thanks!

My girl loves oreo and I will try to cook this for her, I’m sure she will be very pleased with this dessert 🙂 Thank you for sharing this amazing recipe with us.

  4. Sarah says:

Made this last night for a pot luck today. I was nervous after reading all of the reviews, but I already bought the ingredients so I went ahead and tried the recipe. I used whole milk and it set up perfectly over night in the refrigerator! Can’t wait to try it!

    1. Kasey says:

That is GREAT to know! How did it taste?? 🙂

  5. ginny says:

on video you use 2 pkg pudding but on recipe it only says 1 pkg. which one is right?

    1. Kasey says:

The recipe above says either. Some people think it turns out too watery with one. I have never had that problem. BUT I added two to the recipe on the video. I’d start there. 🙂

    2. Kasey says:

      Either way!

  6. Michie says:

I do believe that this dessert is supposed to be chilled in the freezer. I found nearly the exact recipe on another site that called for chocolate pudding rather than vanilla, and 2 cups of milk. It was called “Icebox Oreo Dessert”. My husband made the recipe on this site with two cups of milk and we put it in the freezer when we realized the next day that it hadn’t set at all. It is MUCH better frozen.

    1. Kasey says:

No. This is for the fridge. That’s different. 🙂

I definitely loved making this and think it’s a very easy recipe that creates a delicious dessert.

Only thing is next time I will be using at least two packages of Oreo cookies as one was not enough at all to create the top crust. I would also probably just use one small package of pudding rather than a large one since it was very thick, almost too thick, with two packages of pudding.

[Note: I used three cups of WHOLE milk and had no issue with the “soup-effect” that many experience]

    -Thanks!

  8. Kasey says:

    Ayla,

I would use the amount of milk the recipe calls for and TWO smaller packages of pudding or 1 LARGE package if you are concerned. I would also use whole milk. I can promise there will be NO issue if you do this.

    Good luck!
    Kasey

    1. Ayla Aktan says:

Okay, thank you for the reassurance, tomorrow I will go buy whole milk, which brand do you use if you don’t mind me asking?

      -Thank you!

      1. Kasey says:

I just use a normal store-bought brand. 🙂 Let me know how it goes!

      2. Ayla Aktan says:

I defiantly will and appreciate your prompt reply to my concern! ?

      3. Kasey says:

        You are so welcome!!

      4. Ayla Aktan says:

Before making this recipe, I just want to make sure I understand what I am supposed to do with the milk and pudding.

So do I mix the pudding WITH the milk, because it states above, “do not make the pudding AND use the milk below. Only add the 3 cups in these directions.”

Also, how exactly do I apply the Cool Whip, it says fold and I’m not sure what that means.

        -Thank you!

      5. Ayla Aktan says:

Never mind, went ahead and made dessert!

  9. Jessica says:

**Looking for suggestions! I only read the main page pinned, which didn’t list the pudding mix! I didn’t realize until after I actually clicked it for the recipe link. Do you think it would turn out without pudding mix?

    1. Kasey says:

No, I’m sorry! I think it would be soupy. Did you make it?

  10. Sandy says:

I just made this and it set up fine. I used powdered sugar so it would mix better and 1/2 tsp vanilla. It’s going to a friends tomorrow, but I made sure to keep a small single serve container for me. I cheated and already tasted a bite and it is really good!

    1. Kasey says:

That is SO GREAT to hear!! How was it the next day??? 🙂

      1. Sandy says:

It was great! Making it again tonight for thanksgiving dinner tomorrow.

      2. Kasey says:

YAY! That is GREAT to know!!!
