This No-Bake Oreo Dessert is a quick and easy no-bake dessert you're gonna love!  This chocolate dessert is made up of pudding, cream cheese, cool whip, and Oreos, of course.

Ingredients

See the recipe card below this post for ingredient quantities and full instructions.

  • Oreos
  • Butter
  • Cream cheese – softened.
  • Instant vanilla instant pudding – do not make the pudding AND use the milk below. Only add the 3 cups in these directions.
  • Cool Whip
  • Milk – Some people have had trouble with this setting up – I have not. I’ve used skim, 2% and whole milk. I believe that WHOLE MILK is best.
  • Sugar

How-To Make Oreo Dessert:

1. Crush Oreos: In a 9×13 pan crush the Oreos, saving a few for topping later. Pour melted butter over crushed Oreos.

2. Mix: In a large bowl, mix together with a mixer – instant pudding & milk until thickened. Then add the cream cheese and sugar – mix well.

3. Add Cool Whip: Fold Cool Whip into the pudding mixture and spread over Oreos.

4. Add Topping And Chill: Sprinkle remaining crushed Oreos on top. Chill for 2-3 hours before serving.

Tips for Success

  • I made this batch with Double Stuffed Oreos, but you could really use any flavor of Oreo you’d like, along with changing up the pudding used, as well! Next time, I’m going with Mint Oreos!
  • Do NOT follow the directions on the box of pudding and add in the milk from the box. Only add in the milk from the recipe below.
  • Be sure to chill for several hours before eating. While it’s delicious as soon as it’s made, it’s even better when it has time to sit.

  1. I’ve always loved this dessert ever since was a kid they had a box kind that came with everything but don’t think no longer exist so I use your recipe now. Thanks it’s delicious

  2. Cynthia Green says:

I think no need for the added sugar since pudding is sweet, the whipped topping is also & most sweet of all are those cookies with that ultra sweet frosting! I even think another, less sweet cookie might be very good, such as just a plain chocolate cookie.
Although I love butter & use it whenever possible, the use of butter in such a recipe seems odd & not necessary. I would leave the Oreos without it so they remain a bit crispier
for a nice contrast to all that creaminess! Last but not least, I would definitely use real whipped cream. It will cause the dessert to be firmer & of course much more yummy & gives the ability to control the sweetness. That Cool Whip is just not desirable, full of chemicals & oil, no cream in sight! Sorry if it sounds like I’m picking apart the recipe but I just always try to make all recipes, even decadant desserts, as healthy as possible.

    1. Jennifer L Flynn says:

I was wondering/thinking the same! Shouldn’t change anything, right?

Loved this! Easy to assemble and delicious! I left out the sugar as well and no one missed it! The large jello pudding box which is now 4.9 oz is what I used.

  4. 4 stars
I prepared this recipe exactly as mentioned above and while we enjoyed it, found it to be much too sweet for our taste. I would cut the sugar down significantly, especially if using double stuffed Oreos.
Next time with that modification I believe it will be perfect for our family. Thanks for sharing 🙂

Can you make this dish without using a mixer?

We loved this recipe. The pudding base is good for a lot of desserts like banana pudding or chocolate eclairs cake. However, I did omit the cup of sugar (it was already so sweet I didn’t understand why you needed more) and the butter. I didn’t understand why you needed that either. Everyone loved it and my almost 10 year old asked for it for his birthday cake! Thank you!

    1. Gracie Herbert says:

Oh! We also used the new Gluten Free Oreos! They were great! You do have to use 1.5 packages of the gf ones because there are fewer in the package than the original but they were awesome!

This is probably one of easiest desserts ever and absolutely delicious!!! My children always ask me to make it again when it’s gone!!!!

I make this every year for Christmas and Thanksgiving since 2016. My family begs me to bring it. It is hands down my favorite dessert. We literally fight over it down to the last scoop!

  12. I watched the video and then read some of the comments and glad I did… I didn’t realize I needed 2 packages of pudding (or 1 big one) and thought I would have to go buy a dessert for my potluck instead. BUT i decided would use the 1 package and cut the milk to 1 1/4cups (at first I just had 1C of milk but it seemed too thick, so I added a bit more). It thickened up quite nice! I used whole milk. As in the video, I also did not add butter or sugar. I figure it’s sweet and creamy with the other ingredients.

In the video someone asked if you could taste the cream cheese… I couldn’t. I taste more of the cool whip.

It’s chillin’ in the fridge right now!!

  13. So I had made this as a test run for a party I was going to and it didn’t turn out at all it was way to watery or in this case milky but then I had tried to make it for the party anyway and at first it wasn’t turning out but I just left it to mix for a while and it finally thickened up! I took it to the party and it was a hit! Barely anything left! Now I’m going to make it again for another party I have this weekend! It’s so good!

  14. In the recipe it calls for 1/2 stick of butter but the printable recipe says 1/2 cup? Just wondering which one is correct or will it even make that much difference?

  15. Laura Ropiak says:

I cannot find a 6.9 oz box of vanilla pudding mix? Is that correct listed in the recipe?

    1. Judy Gulledge says:

I can’t find 6.9 oz vanilla pudding . What am I missing. Is this size correct?

  16. Looks so yummy! I love no bake recipe, so quick and less stress 😉

  17. 5 stars
This looks like a great recipe! I love oreos and putting them in a pudding, that must be the best idea ever!

A classic dessert that I love to see when I go to summer BBQs! I don’t know why I haven’t made it myself, but I am always so excited when I see it at a party!

  19. We love munching on Oreos. I’ve never tried preparing it like this, though. Bet it’s good. Can’t wait to try your recipe.

  20. This sure does look good. I will have to try it out soon. My youngest daughter is a big fan of oreos, so I’m sure she’ll really like this.
