Ingredients for Cowboy Casserole
To print: see recipe card below
- 1/2 pound Ground beef
- 1 can (15.25 ounces) Canned corn, drained – I like to use sweet yellow corn, but any type of corn in a can will work. Make sure you strain and discard the juice so it doesn’t make the filling too watery.
- 2/3 cup Condensed cream of chicken soup – Cambell’s condensed soup is always my favorite brand, but any type will work!
- 1/2 cup Shredded cheddar cheese – Sharp cheddar cheese is the most flavorful. For the best taste and texture, buy a block, and shred it yourself.
- 1/2 cup Whole milk – Skim or 2% milk will work as well.
- 2 Tablespoons Sour cream – Sour cream gives the filling a tangy flavor and thick texture.
- 1 teaspoon Garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon Salt
- 1/4 teaspoon Ground black pepper
- 2 cups Frozen Tater Tots – A 32-ounce bag of tater tots will have about 2 cups.
Variations:
- Replace the cheddar cheese with mozzarella cheese or pepper jack cheese.
- Condensed cream of mushroom soup will work well instead of condensed cream of chicken soup.
- Use 1 1/2 cups of frozen corn kernels instead of canned corn.
