Directions For How to Make Ritz Cracker Chicken Casserole
Step 1. Gather all of your ingredients and preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Then, spray a 9×13-inch baking dish with nonstick cooking spray.
Step 2. Combine the condensed soup, onion powder, sour cream, pepper, and shredded chicken in a large bowl.
Step 3. Pour the mixture into the prepared dish and smooth it out with a spoon for an even layer.
Step 4. Mix the crushed Ritz crackers with melted butter.
Step 5. Sprinkle the Ritz Crackers evenly over the top of the casserole mixture.
Step 6. Bake the casserole in the oven for 25-30 minutes until the top is golden brown and bubbling around the edges. Take it out of the oven and serve it while warm.
Variations
- Add in some greens. Add chopped broccoli or green beans to the casserole to make it veggie-forward.
- Turn it cheesy. Mix in 1/2 cup of shredded cheese with the crushed cracker to add a cheesy topping.
- Make it richer. Use both sour cream and cream cheese in the base mixture for a rich filling.
Tips for Success
- If making the dish for a smaller crowd, cut the ingredients in half and use an 8×8-inch baking dish.
- Make sure to give the casserole dish a good spray with the nonstick spray. If the casserole dish isn’t covered, everything will stick and won’t come out of the pan easily.
- Cover the top with foil if the Ritz Crackers on the top of the dish start to brown before the rest of the casserole is cooked. The foil will keep the top from getting too brown while continuing to let the casserole cook.
