This No-Bake Oreo Dessert is a quick and easy no-bake dessert you're gonna love!  This chocolate dessert is made up of pudding, cream cheese, cool whip, and Oreos, of course.

Ingredients

See the recipe card below this post for ingredient quantities and full instructions.

  • Oreos
  • Butter
  • Cream cheese – softened.
  • Instant vanilla instant pudding – do not make the pudding AND use the milk below. Only add the 3 cups in these directions.
  • Cool Whip
  • Milk – Some people have had trouble with this setting up – I have not. I’ve used skim, 2% and whole milk. I believe that WHOLE MILK is best.
  • Sugar

How-To Make Oreo Dessert:

1. Crush Oreos: In a 9×13 pan crush the Oreos, saving a few for topping later. Pour melted butter over crushed Oreos.

2. Mix: In a large bowl, mix together with a mixer – instant pudding & milk until thickened. Then add the cream cheese and sugar – mix well.

3. Add Cool Whip: Fold Cool Whip into the pudding mixture and spread over Oreos.

4. Add Topping And Chill: Sprinkle remaining crushed Oreos on top. Chill for 2-3 hours before serving.

Tips for Success

  • I made this batch with Double Stuffed Oreos, but you could really use any flavor of Oreo you’d like, along with changing up the pudding used, as well! Next time, I’m going with Mint Oreos!
  • Do NOT follow the directions on the box of pudding and add in the milk from the box. Only add in the milk from the recipe below.
  • Be sure to chill for several hours before eating. While it’s delicious as soon as it’s made, it’s even better when it has time to sit.

The taste and consistency are nothing like it should be. Does not get thick enough, and yes I followed directions and ingredients as stated. Was very disappointed as this is usually one of my favorite desserts

  2. Katie smith says:

Please be clear in the ingredients on the first page! I know there is another page with the amount of everything needed, but it shouldn’t be a scavenger hunt to find it. I made a double batch of the “recipe” & had to throw it in the trash because it was watery. That was before I found the “secret” page where the amount of ingredients are.

    1. Shyanne - ATM Team says:

Hi Katie! We’re sorry your dessert didn’t turn out. We always list the complete ingredients and instructions at the bottom of the page! There shouldn’t be a second page you need to navigate to. 😊

    2. Abigail Starbuck says:

I make this a lot. It’s super easy to modify. I’ve done golden Oreos with lemon pudding and I’ve done cheesecake pudding with chocolate Oreos, for example. I’ve used sugar free pudding and left out the extra sugar all together as well, it always turn out well. My kids really like this.

      1. Shyanne - ATM Team says:

Thank you, Abigail! We’re so glad you enjoy it. 😊

  3. Can I use whipped cream instead of cool whip as I can’t get it where I live in uk

    1. Shyanne - ATM Team says:

We recommend using heavy whipping cream, and whipping it until fluffy instead!

  4. Is the mix supposed to end up completely smooth? Even after I realized my mistake of not adding two boxes of pudding mix and fixing it, there’s still a lot of tiny bits of cream cheese. Is that how it’s supposed to be?

    1. Destiny Ann Sullivan says:

Mine if you allow the cream cheese to warm up a bit and fluff it first, it will be more smooth, however, I enjoy those little bits of cream cheese as well as the bits of the Oreo cream that are not completely blended.

  5. Question – why pour in the melted butter but then not bake it? Does it congeal in the fridge? Will it taste or look like butter? Thanks

  6. Can this be put in the freezer for a couple of days?

  7. Norma Pinkerton says:

How long can you keep this in the refrigerator

I used (1) 5.1 pkg. Vanilla INSTANT pudding
and (1) 4.2 pkg. OREOS INSTANT puddding
and added no sugar. It was great . Served it
at a graduation party. Noticed people went
    back for seconds.

    1. Julianne Viola says:

Hi I just wanted to know did you still use the cookies?

Hi Kasey, my 14 year old daughter made your oreo dessert yesterday and it was great. Everyone loved it. One question though. I understood your statement of making sure we used the instant pudding and not the cook and serve. In your instructions you mention to use a big box of the pudding but in the recipe it says a 6.9 oz box. The jello instant pudding only come in 3.4 or 5.1 oz. (at least that’s all I saw). Although the mix wasn’t runny, it did not look as thick as yours on your video. Do I use the 5.1 oz box or do I weigh 6.9 oz of pudding? Thanks for the recipe.

Thank you for this comment! I couldn’t figure out why my milk and pudding were frothing… I’ve made pudding and knew something was wrong. I checked the dates on everything, and it wasn’t until I read your comment that I realized I bought the cook and serve not instant. I threw in another box of instant… hopefully it will still turn out. Thank you!!!

  10. Made this for a church luncheon and everyone loved it. I think the pudding package size may confuse people though. Where I live in North Carolina we have 2 sizes-regular 3.4 oz and large 5.1 oz. I used 2 of the regular sized boxes and turned out great.

  11. How much butter do i pour on the oreos on the bottom?

    1. The recipe calls for 1/2 cup of melted butter.

  12. The large package of Jello pudding is 5.1 oz so am wondering if the size has changed over the years, as with many products. I’m going to adjust the milk down some. Was already home before I noticed or I would’ve purchased 2 of the smaller packages.

    1. I wondered about the size difference in the pudding also. Did decreasing the milk work out?

  13. Can I skip the additional sugar ? Oreos and pudding are sweet as it is .

I’ve never added sugar to my recipe. It turns out fine without it. Yum!

So good, I made this for a family get together and it was devoured. Thank you for the recipe!

    1. I was very excited to make this for my family, but the recipe was very confusing. I thought the recipe said 16.9 oz.. instead of (1) 6.9 oz. Wish that was more clear.

  15. Delicious! I’ve been looking for this recipe for a while! Other ones just didn’t taste the same. Thanks!

Delicious! I agree with the other comments that the cup of sugar is completely unnecessary. It tastes perfectly sweet without it.
I made it once with 1/4 c butter and once with the 1/2 c. More butter equals a more cohesive crust. It just stays together better. I didn’t notice a taste difference. Also regular Oreos were better than mint.

  17. We have different size packaging in Canada, especially for oreos. How many oreos are in your package?

    1. In a US package of Oreos (13.29oz package) there is 11 servings. Each serving size is 3 cookies. 11 servings x 3 cookies = 33 cookies.

  18. Stephanie says:

Good dessert but I think I know why so many have had problems with it setting up. The recipe calls for one 6.9 oz pkg instant pudding. Well the standard package size of instant pudding is 3.4 oz. This is the only pkg size my local store sells, so if you don’t realize that this recipe is calling for the non-standard “family size” pkg, you will only be adding about half the pudding needed. Fortunately I had another pkg of pudding on hand, but I bet many are missing that detail.
