Caramel Apple Nachos

One of my favorite fall desserts is Caramel Apples! We have this little place down the road called the Apple Barn that sells fresh baked items, produce, flowers, pumpkins, and Caramel Apples, of course! They are delicious!

I love that when we visit, it’s like taking a step back in time with an old-time country store feel. They make Caramel Apples fresh daily and bring them out from the back on a big tray that you can help yourself to. It’s also great for little hands to grab.

I can’t tell you how many apples I’ve had to buy because a little finger goes right into the gooey caramel! ha! But, who can blame them! My kids LOVE them!

They have plain caramel apples, topped with nuts, drizzled with chocolate, and more!

I have always been intimidated by making my own Caramel Apples at home – melting down the caramel and not burning it, sticking sticks into the apples and trying to dip them so they don’t fall off, and then adding all the toppings. It can be a big mess!

So I came up with this EASY way to make them with zero mess and fuss! It’s just a fun twist on the traditional caramel apple!

Ingredients Needed to Make Loaded Apple Nachos

  • Granny smith apples (or any kind of apples)
  • Caramel topping
  • Chocolate Chips
  • Crushed Heath Bar

How To Make Caramel Apple Nachos

It’s easy! To make Caramel Apple Nachos, you just pick out your favorite apple – I like a little bit of a tart apple for this so I go with an in-season green apple – and slice it up into “nacho” size pieces. This isn’t an on-the-go treat, so just add to a pretty plate and everyone can grab a few slices!

And, this may come as a surprise to you, but I don’t melt caramels on the stove for this recipe. I actually use Caramel Ice Cream Topping in a jar! Yep! That’s the easy way to go and it stays all nice and gooey instead of hardening up.

I then add my favorite toppings – mini chocolate chips and toffee bits – and lots of them!! It’s really an easy recipe that makes the best sweet treat!

You can add your favorite toppings, too, OR make a DIY Caramel Apple Bar! Just slice up the apples and put out a jar of Caramel Sauce and lots of toppings for people to add their own. How fun is that??!

Some other fun toppings and topping ideas:

  • Melted Peanut Butter and Chocolate
  • Nuts
  • Marshmallows
  • Cookie Crumbles
  • Mini M&M’s
  • Crushed Up Various Candy Bars
  • Cinnamon & Sugar
  • Melted caramels or caramel bits
  • Chocolate sauce
  • Hot fudge
  • White chocolate chips
  • Coconut
  • — And MORE!

This delicious fall dessert is an easy treat that is perfect truly for any time of year. I love making this for an after school snack or as the perfect fall treat. Just vary up the kind of apples that you use to make this delicious snack taste different. (and if you have younger kids, pair these sweet apple treats up with these fun apple crafts as well to make a whole day of apple learning fun!)

Granny smith apples add a fun tartness but you can totally use red apples as well! Once you add on that sweet caramel sauce, you’re going to realize that you’ve just found a great thing to make!

I love these chocolate apple nachos because they take just a little time to make and are a delicious option for a variety of caramel apple recipes! You can make a whole nacho meal with Sheet Pan Nachos for dinner and these apple nachos for dessert!
