This No-Bake Oreo Dessert is a quick and easy no-bake dessert you're gonna love!  This chocolate dessert is made up of pudding, cream cheese, cool whip, and Oreos, of course.

Ingredients

See the recipe card below this post for ingredient quantities and full instructions.

  • Oreos
  • Butter
  • Cream cheese – softened.
  • Instant vanilla instant pudding – do not make the pudding AND use the milk below. Only add the 3 cups in these directions.
  • Cool Whip
  • Milk – Some people have had trouble with this setting up – I have not. I’ve used skim, 2% and whole milk. I believe that WHOLE MILK is best.
  • Sugar

How-To Make Oreo Dessert:

1. Crush Oreos: In a 9×13 pan crush the Oreos, saving a few for topping later. Pour melted butter over crushed Oreos.

2. Mix: In a large bowl, mix together with a mixer – instant pudding & milk until thickened. Then add the cream cheese and sugar – mix well.

3. Add Cool Whip: Fold Cool Whip into the pudding mixture and spread over Oreos.

4. Add Topping And Chill: Sprinkle remaining crushed Oreos on top. Chill for 2-3 hours before serving.

Tips for Success

  • I made this batch with Double Stuffed Oreos, but you could really use any flavor of Oreo you’d like, along with changing up the pudding used, as well! Next time, I’m going with Mint Oreos!
  • Do NOT follow the directions on the box of pudding and add in the milk from the box. Only add in the milk from the recipe below.
  • Be sure to chill for several hours before eating. While it’s delicious as soon as it’s made, it’s even better when it has time to sit.

  1. It always comes out fine for me. Let it sit. You may be ok!!

  2. Followed the directions and it was so yummy!! Mine set perfectly!

  3. 4 stars
Pretty sure i have solved the non-setting up issue. I made mine twice, total fail, oreo soup (actually it was still tasty, no lie i had it for breakfast)…. regardless of how much or what kind of milk. Then the fiance points out that the pudding directions specifically mention boiling. Yeah i didnt realize there is also non-instant pudding mix and they only had 1 kind at the store i had gone to, so i thought nothing of it. id bet thats what others ran into as well, so you might just update to be sure and get INSTANT pudding not to be confused with the “ready in 5 min” powdered pudding mix. which will not set without boiling no matter how much milk you leave out…

    1. OH goodness! Sorry you missed the INSTANT pudding in the ingredients section!! That would make a big difference!

This tastes great! I was wondering if it could be made without the cream cheese? I never seem to have any luck blending cream cheese, always wind up with small pieces.

    1. I think that would be just fine! Would be a tad different – but you’d never miss it really!

I make this all the time but have never added the sugar, as it really doesn’t need it. I do use 1 large pack of pudding mix or 2 small ones though. It has NEVER failed for me and is always devoured! In Alabama, it is called Oreo Delight.

I used Birthday Cake flavored Oreos for this recipe… Yummy!

    1. Ooooo! I bet that is really good!

  7. My Oreo recipe didn’t set and I used 2 cups of 2% milk 🙁 I refrigerated it for 3.5 hours. Maybe next time I’ll use less milk and plan on more time to set ?

Just came back here to say.. mine worked fine. The only changes were the cool whip which is very rare here in our supermarkets, I used all purpose cream and I only have a banana flavored pudding but everything else, worked good. 🙂 will try this next time with chocolate. 😀

  9. I believe the problem with the pudding not setting up is that the recipe needs to specify the pudding package that is to be used is a 5.1oz package, not the small 3.4 packages. I ended up putting in two 3.4 packages with the 3 cups milk and it set up immediately.

    1. Yes! That is how I read the recipe as well. I have mine setting now for a party this evening. The size of the package is what most likely threw people off.

  10. Use 1 1/2 cups of milk only and forget the sugar. It was delicious!

Love it! Where I’m from in the south, we call this “Dirt Cake”. 😉

  12. I was looking for something yummy, quick, and easy to make for my Spanish class when I came across this and I knew immediately it was perfect! My class loves Oreos so this would be a guaranteed ‘A.’ The only thing I’m confused about is whether or not I need the pudding mix if I use milk. Do you think I should use both or just the milk?

  13. I was looking for something easy to make since it’s my week to make something in Spanish class and I found this. I knew immediately that this would be super easy, quick, and delicious! The only thing I’m confused about is whether or not I need the pudding mix of I have milk. Should I use both or only the milk?

    1. Hi BB, you only need the amount of milk called for in the recipe. Do not add the extra that the pudding mix calls for. Good luck!

  14. I forgot the sugar and it was basically oreo pudding but still delicious

    1. OH good! I’m glad it turned out!!

  15. So I’m confused after reading these posts. Are you supposed to add the dry pudding, 3 cups of milk, cream cheese and sugar. Or are you supposed to make the pudding and then add said pudding, X amount of milk that is left from 3 cups, cream cheese and sugar together.?

    1. Amy, You just add the ingredients together. Nothing ahead of time.

I’m pretty excited about this dessert. Made it for New Year’s Eve 2015! I used Almond Milk, instead of whole to make the pudding. I also used stevia instead of sugar! Tasted great!

    1. YAY!!! That is really awesome to hear!!!

The dessert tuned out great but I added a layer of blueberry jelly and blue colouring in the pudding.. turned out awesome! ?

  18. How about changing things up and using Nutter Butter Cookies with a chocolate pudding? What a combo that would be!

    1. OH my! That would be good!!

  19. My 8 year old boy has requested an Oreo dessert and I think this one will definitely be a hit in his book!! Can’t wait to try it! I am going to make them in small to-go cups so they will be easy to put in his lunchbox! :O) thank you for the wonderful recipe!!

    1. OH that is a good idea! I love the idea of individual cups! Put them in little mason jars for the cuteness factor! (see my blog post tomorrow!)
