HOW TO MAKE PEACH COBBLER WITH FRESH PEACHES

Step 1: Slice the peaches

Peel and cut your peaches into wedges and add to the bottom of a 9×9 buttered baking dish or pie plate – add 1/2 cup of water right over the top.

Step 2: Mix the ingredients

Mix your dry ingredients together (recipe below) in a medium-size bowl.

Add 1 egg to the dry mixture and mix well until it resembles cookie dough. Be careful not to overmix.

Step 3: Add the batter

Drop the batter over the peaches by tablespoons.

Step 4: Add the butter

Melt 1 stick of butter and pour right over the top of your dish.

Step 5: Bake

Bake until the top is lightly brown and the peach mixture is bubbly.

Step 6: Serve

Remove from oven and serve warm. Top with a scoop of vanilla ice cream, if desired. For a classic peach cobbler, put a scoop of ice cream on top of peaches and enjoy. It’s one of the best things to serve it with!

TIPS FOR SUCCESS

  • You can peel peaches quickly by boiling them in water for 10-20 seconds. Remove with a slotted spoon and place it in an ice-water bath to cool. Then take a paring knife to peel the skin which will come off easily.
  • Topping with whipped cream is also a good choice.
  • If you want to vary up this recipe, you can make it with apples, too!

FAQS

Can you use canned peaches for this easy cobbler recipe?

You can but sweet peaches that are ripe are so much better. There’s nothing like the flavor of fresh ripe peaches. It’s one of my favorite things. Ripe fresh peaches add in so much natural sweetness. There’s nothing like those fruit juices.

Can you use frozen peaches?

Again, you can use any type of peaches that you want but fresh white peaches are my personal favorite. This time of year is the perfect time to get them. The easiest way to add flavor is to use those kinds of peaches.

How do you store leftover peach cobbler?

This delicious cobbler can easily be stored in the fridge in a container. Cover with aluminum foil or a lid. You can store the entire dish this way without worry.

I hope you like one of my favorite peach recipes! You’re not going to want to miss out on this southern peach cobbler recipe! Those juicy peaches make the perfect peach filling!

Kasey, What happened??? The egg made the dry ingredients runny and after baking for 32 minutes my peaches are settimg in melted butter—– why? Can I save the $17 worth of peaches?

I made this with frozen peach pie filling. It took a little longer to bake to cook the topping through, but it was very tasty. Thanks for sharing.

  3. 4 stars
Very good recipe. I did add a small amount of brown sugar on top of the peaches and substituted Splenda for sugar in the topping. Quick to prepare and delicious.

Hello! I am not a cook, but my goal is to cook/bake more in 2019 – which led me to you! With cobbler, it always seems like there’s not enough of the delicious crust… wondering what you think would happen if I made 1.5x the dough? Don’t want to ruin my first cobbler. 😂 Thanks for your help!

  5. Hi Kasey, Hello, I’m new. I read your blog all the time. I love the recipes. I’ve been looking for a Peach Cobbler Recipe for a while now. I can’t wait to bake it. And I cant wait to bake the Cheesy Potato Recipe that is at the end of this blog. I’ll let you know how they turned out. Where it says website below, I’m not sure what it means, if it means mine or the name of yours. I tried writing several times and left it blank, and it wouldn’t go through. Nancy
