When I became a mother, I suddenly wanted to do things not only differently but better. Things I didn’t think about before were now in the front of my mind…” What are the ingredients in that food?” “I don’t want to put that on her skin, I have no idea what those chemicals are!” “Don’t spray that around her…the stuff in it could make her sick!” The list can go on and on. Sound familiar? I didn’t change the way I did things overnight, but I changed by taking small steps that made a big difference. I’m still learning and growing and changing the way I do things even now. I think it’s a never-ending process.
NOTE: While I loved doTERRA Essential Oils – I am now using Young Living! Come check out why I made the switch!
Last week I told you about how we are using Essential Oils to treat our family naturally whenever possible and today I’m going to show you how to makeover your diaper bag. These are just a few ways you can make small changes that can make a big difference in your and your baby’s wellbeing!
#1 Tip for Mammas – Stay Hydrated!
Dehydration can lead to exhaustion. Add essential oils, such as lemon or wild orange, to your water throughout the day to purify and uplift. It’s absolutely essential to drink lots of water daily – especially when nursing.
#2 Diaper Cream
Every diaper bag must contain a good diaper cream. One that soothes and prevents rashes is best. The recipe I’m going to share with you tomorrow is free from petroleum and artificial ingredients that can irritate delicate skin.
#3 Essential Oils
Gentle, multi-use oils like lavender and melaleuca are must haves. They can be used for multiple reasons from teething to helping to calm and restore mom and baby. TIP: have a restless baby…mix a drop of a good quality lavender essential oil with a bit of coconut oil and rub on the bottom of baby’s feet. She’ll be calm and quiet in no time! Works for mom ,too!
Commercial wipes are made with ingredients that can irritate a baby’s delicate skin. My easy homemade recipe is great on the go, too…just place wipes in a wet bag. They can be used on baby’s tushy or even on hands and face. No need to worry about chemicals getting into baby’s mouth. There’s none there!
Here’s a list of must-have essential oils for baby.
See…that wasn’t painful at all! You can make a few of these changes and make a big difference in the well-being of you and your baby! Check back tomorrow as I share my favorite diaper cream recipe. Simple ingredients with great results!
