DIY Natural Cleaning Products

All-Purpose Citrus Kitchen Cleaner

Citrus oils are the perfect essential oils for any job—big or small—in the kitchen.

They cut through grease, purify surfaces, remove odors, and leave a clean, fresh scent!

  • ½ cup vinegar
  • ½ cup distilled water
  • 2 tablespoons rubbing alcohol
  • 5 drops lemon essential oil
  • 5 drops orange essential oil
  • 5 drops lime essential oil
  1. Combine all ingredients in a spray bottle. Shake well.
  2. Spray on kitchen surfaces. Wipe clean.

Tip: Any combination of essential oils can be used in this recipe. Tea Tree, eucalyptus, and pine work well!

Lavender and Lemon Kitchen Wipes

Store-bought kitchen cleansing wipes can be expensive and full of chemicals.

Instead, use this DIY recipe with lavender and lemon essential oils, which both purify

and leave a light, clean scent!

  • 1 roll high-quality paper towels
  • 1 cup distilled water
  • 1 cup vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons liquid Castile soap
  • 10 drops lavender essential oil
  • 10 drops lemon essential oil
  1. Lay the paper towel roll horizontally on the table in front of you, then use a serrated knife to cut the roll in half. Use one half of roll now and keep one half of roll for next use.
  2. Next, in a covered container or jar large enough to accommodate the cut paper towel roll, combine water, vinegar, soap, and essential oils. Mix well.
  3. Place paper towel roll half in the container and cover. The paper towels will soak up the mixture over the course of several hours. Remove the cardboard tube from the paper towel roll and discard. Cover container until needed. Pull from the center of the roll and use paper towels to wipe surfaces clean.

Lemon-Scented Bathroom Glass Cleaner

Why pay for store-bought glass cleaner when you can make your own at home for

next to nothing? The lemon essential oil in this recipe keeps your glass sparkling clean!

  • 1 cup distilled water
  • 1 cup vinegar
  • ¼ cup rubbing alcohol
  • ¼ teaspoon liquid Castile soap
  • 25 drops lemon essential oil
  1. Combine all ingredients in a large spray bottle. Shake well.
  2. Spray on windows and glass. Wipe clean with a lint-free cloth or paper towels.

Rosemary and Lemon Surface Scrub

Rosemary and lemon essential oils are known to cut through grime, purify, and

whiten naturally. Using a recipe with these essential oils is the perfect way to clean bathroom sinks and tubs!

  • 1 cup baking soda
  • ½ cup liquid Castile soap
  • 10 drops rosemary essential oil
  • 10 drops lemon essential oil
  1. Combine all ingredients in a small bowl. Mix well.
  2. Use a sponge to apply the mixture and scrub tub and tile clean. Rinse well.

Alcohol-Free Lemon Window and Glass Cleaner

Making your own window and glass cleaner is a breeze! This streak-free cleaner

will degrease and degrime without chemicals, leaving your room smelling fresh and

clean.

  • 1 cup distilled water
  • ¼ cup vinegar
  • 10–12 drops lemon or lime essential oil
  1. Combine all ingredients in a spray bottle. Shake well.
  2. Spray on window or glass and wipe with a lint-free cloth or newspaper.
  3. Shake bottle prior to each use to mix ingredients

Laundry Soap

This is my favorite laundry soap recipe! It smells great, gets out all stains, and

brightens your clothes using the combined powers of lavender and lemon essential oils.

  • 1 bar Fels-Naptha soap
  • 2 cups borax
  • 2 cups washing soda
  • 2 cups baking soda
  • 1 cup OxiClean
  • 25 drops lavender essential oil
  • 25 drops lemon essential oil
  1. Using a food processor or a hand cheese grater, grate the bar of soap.
  2. Then combine all ingredients in a large bucket. Mix well. Save the scoop from the jar of OxiClean to use to add laundry soap to washing machine.
  3. Use 1 scoop for a normal load or 2 scoops for a large load. This recipe is safe for HE machines; just place the soap in the drum of the machine before adding clothes.

Lavender and Lemon Fabric Softener

Vinegar is the perfect fabric softener to compliment our Laundry Soap. It is all-natural and works as well as any commercial product, without harmful chemicals.

  • 2 cups vinegar
  • 15 drops lavender essential oil
  • 15 drops lemon essential oil
  1. Combine all ingredients in a bottle with a lid. Shake well.
  2. Fill your rinse-agent cup in your washing machine with this fabric softener as normal.

The next time you need to get your floors or walls sparkling clean or need to cleanse a hard surface, just reach for one of these non-toxic all-natural cleaners that you can feel good about using in your home!
