One of my absolute favorite things about the holidays is baking. I LOVE to bake cookies – lots and lots of cookies! This year, however, my newly pregnant self didn’t agree with my love of cookies and baked goods. I could bake them and taste them – but eating lots of them was off the table.

But, that didn’t stop me! I made aย deliciousย pound cake that is my Aunt Sue’sย secretย recipe ย that I’m not allowed to share. But, I can tell you that it turned out beautifully and I will be making it many, many more times.
Another day, I made a new Chocolate Chip Cookie that is now my FAVORITE recipe for this cookie. It was crispy on the outside and chewy on the inside and the top was perfectly cracked like those big cookies you buy inย specialtyย shops and bakeries.
My favorite day of baking came only a week before Christmas when my sister, Kari, came and spent the day with me. We made Peanut Butter Kiss Cookies, Chocolate Crinkles, Old-Fashioned Saltine Cracker Toffee, Gingerbread Men and Mint Oreo Truffles.
ย It was a bake-a-thon indeed.ย By night my legs and back were exhausted but I can’t wait to do it again next year! It was so much fun!
Did you do some holiday baking this year? What was your favorite thing you made?
Next up…I made The Pioneer Woman’s Cinnamon Rolls! You MUST try them!
