How I went from an in-home daycare provider living paycheck to paycheck to building a business I love making 6-figures and how you can too!

Go All In

5 years ago I was sitting in a cabana on a beach watching my kids and husband play in the sand. We had just come from our first “big” vacation – Disney – and were now enjoying the beach. Another first for my family. I was contemplating what to do next. Not with whether to have a pina colada or a margarita, but with my life. Pretty deep thoughts for the beach. But I found myself in a situation I never dreamed possible.

Go. All. In.

That’s why I kept telling myself. But it was scary. What if I failed? What if the jobs didn’t come? What if I didn’t like being alone all day? These were all thoughts and fears I had about quitting my job as an in-home daycare provider which had provided an income that helped pay the bills and a little extra each month.

But, thanks to my little “hobby” of blogging, I was now making more than the daycare was bringing in each month – times two. And I loved it! I loved sharing with other moms the best diaper creams and skincare to help their own skin glow. I loved sharing my grandmother’s chicken salad recipe and mom’s sweet potato casserole recipe.

I loved how it provided me the enthusiasm to get out of bed early and stay up late to push to the next level. And here I was now, sitting on a beach after having dinner with Micky and Minnie – something I didn’t see possible for many years – that was all possible because of my “hobby”.

I didn’t want it to be just a hobby anymore. I wanted it to be my career. I knew just how successful it could be and what kind of life I wanted – what kind of life I wanted for my family.

What Next?

That week, my husband and I discussed all the ways it could change our life, for the better or worse. And we went home excited with the possibility of it all, but still not knowing for sure if it was the best decision.

It wasn’t long after we got back and into life again and the jobs kept rolling in for my site, the pageviews continued to climb, and money was now three times what I made in the daycare! It was clear, it was time to go all in!

Without a doubt, that was the best decision I’ve ever made in my life for my family. Here I am, 5 years later and making more money I ever thought possible at any job I would have in my life. And it started as a hobby!

I’m pretty sure people still think I have a little hobby where I post all my recipes and tips on a site. They have no idea that I bring in over 6-figures a year doing what I love and it continues to climb each and every month.

I love that All Things Mamma has grown from just a few readers each month to well over 300,000 each month! It has provided our family with so much, but it also provides so much happiness for me when someone stops me in public to tell me how much they loved my Overnight Breakfast Casserole or email to tell me that my Buffalo Chicken Dip was a hit at their last party. It’s the best feeling and pushes me to work harder and to grow more.
