  • Unsalted butter – Melt this on the stovetop or in the microwave.
  • Cream cheese – Let this soften to room temperature.
  • Granulated sugar – Adds sweetness to the cream cheese mixture.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is chocolate lasagna made of?

Chocolate lasagna is made with cream cheese, Oreos, whipped topping, pudding, and mini chocolate chips. All of these ingredients are layered in a pan, just like you’d layer lasagna!

What is the recipe for chocolate lasagna?

Everyone puts their own unique spin on chocolate lasagna, but my favorite version is in the recipe card below.

Is whipped cream and Cool Whip the same?

No, so you can’t use whipped cream as a substitute for Cool Whip in this recipe. Cool Whip is more stable because it has other ingredients added to the cream.

How long does chocolate lasagna need to chill?

At least 5 hours, but overnight is even better for the best texture.

Notes

Soften the cream cheese: This ensures a smooth, lump-free layer.
Chill between layers: This helps keep the layers distinct and easy to spread.
Use cold milk for pudding: It helps the pudding set properly.
Don’t rush the chill time: Letting it set fully is key to clean slices.
Cut with a sharp knife: Wipe the knife between cuts for neat servings.
