cupcake wrapper number

We’re getting ready for a fun-filled, 6th Birthday Party, for my daughter this weekend! It’s going to be full of pink, green and blue pom poms, tulle and this adorable Cupcake Wrapper Number 6 to decorate our front door. I knew that you’d LOVE to see how this one was made. It’s just way too cute to not share!

Here’s the simple How-To on making one of your very own!

First, take a piece of cardboard and using a pencil draw the number or letter you’d like to use. Next, using an Exacto knife or scissors, cut out your number or letter.

Take cupcake wrappers and gather them together at the bottom, like in the form of a flower. Use a dot of hot glue and glue it onto the cardboard. Hold for a few seconds to hold in place.

Work in small sections around your cardboard so that the glue has time to harden a firm up.

After you’ve filled the entire space, use tulle or ribbon and glue onto the back of your number and tie a bow and hang up! That’s it!

Thank you so much for these wonderful party craft ideas!! I just made a “5” and “1” for my inlaws’ 51st anniversary, and I ended up using about 140 wrappers! Yikes! At first, I started off with the wrapper density too high, so i was able to pluck them later and redistribute.

      OH how fun!! That’s great!!

Thank you so much for sharing these tips. I feel in love with a number door decoration and could not find details for how to do it or what to use. Can you tell me approx. how many cupcake wrappers it took for this “6”. I’m going to buy the materials to get started and just want an idea of how many wrappers to buy if the “1” is about 20″.

    Thank you!

I just tried this for my 2 and 4 year old boys party….looks adorable but Im trying to figure out how to hang both from 1 door hanger. Their theme is Batman and Robin so of course I could not find black or green cupcake wrappers…still looks cute and I am sad I will have to take it down!

    1. Kasey says:

I hated to take mine down as well….so we hung it in my daughter’s bedroom along with a bunch of poms from the party!
