Now that most of the cold and dreary weather is behind us, I’m back on my smoothie kick. I can never get into them in the Winter. I feel like I’m in hibernation mode and need warm comfort foods – eggs, toast, oatmeal – to get me through the day. But, now that I’ve been waking up to sun and warmer temperatures, I’m back at my morning smoothie routine!
This new recipe I’ve been using is a mixture of one I found in my Daniel Plan book but I changed it up a bit with what I had on hand. Same concept – yummy taste! It’s so yummy ย that I wanted to share it with you today!
What’s great about this recipe is that it has so many good things in it! Here’s a breakdown of each ingredient and how it helps your body work well!
Blueberries – ย blueberries have more antioxidants than any other fresh fruits or vegetables tested to date. Antioxidants strengthen your immune system by neutralizing free radicals introduced into your body by exposure to smoke, toxins and pesticides.
Kale –ย Kale has more iron than beef per calorie. Very high in in Vitamin K, full of powerful antioxidants and much more.
Spinach –ย A very nutrient-dense food. Itโs low in calories yet very high in vitamins, minerals and other phytonutrients. This leafy green is an excellent source of vitamin K, vitamin A, magnesium, folate, manganese, iron, calcium, vitamin C, vitamin B2, potassium, and vitamin B6. Itโs a very good source of protein, phosphorus, vitamin E, zinc, dietary fiber, and copper. Plus, itโs a good source of selenium, niacin, and omega-3 fatty acids.
Walnuts –ย Walnuts not only taste great but are a rich source of heart-healthy monounsaturated fats and an excellent source of those hard to find omega-3 fatty acids.
Bananas –ย Bananas help you reach your weight-loss goals, keep your bowels healthy, provide nutrients that regulate heart rhythm and have vitamin compounds for eye health.
Coconut Oil –ย The health benefits of coconut oil include hair care, skin care, stress relief, cholesterol level maintenance, weight loss, boosted immune system, proper digestion and regulated metabolism and so much more! It’s just good for you!
Chia/Flax Blend – ย Chia seeds, low in carbs and gluten free, are packed with Omega 3s, vitamins, antioxidants, protein, fiber, and minerals such as calcium, magnesium, and zinc. Chia can absorb 10 times their weight in water aiding in weight loss and hydration. All this contributes to the overall wellness of the body. Organic Milled Flax Seeds are also loaded with Omega 3s, fiber antioxidants, and minerals, but have the added benefit of hormone balancing phytoestrogens called lignan, all of which help promote your healthy lifestyle.
Almond butter –ย Almond butter is an excellent alternate source of protein, and it’s filled with monounsaturated fat
