First Day of School

Back to school is right around the corner! How is that possible?! This year I have a 2nd grader and a Kindergartner! AHHHH! My two first babies will be going to school together each day and my 1 year old will be home with me and the daycare kiddos. It’s going to be great….or not!

The reality of sending two kids to school is a little overwhelming. Two sets of paperwork, homework, lunches/lunch money, snacks, backpacks packed, and the worst thing….getting to school on time! We’re going to have to be super organized this year! I’ve already started planning and organizing our home so that the shock of heading back to school isn’t so bad.

I remember Ella’s first day of Kindergarten…. I was so excited and nervous for her! I took her to school that day and dropped her off right in her classroom, but she wanted to ride the bus home. Since it’s only a few blocks from our home, I thought it would be OK since she wouldn’t have a long ride on the bus. It was only a half day, but it seemed like she was gone FOREVER before it was time for the bus to come. So, when it was about 15 minutes before her scheduled drop-off, we packed up the daycare kids and walked to the end of the block to wait on her. We waited and wait….it was a new year and a brand new school, so the schedule was a little off. But, eventually the bus came down the street…YAY!! Camera in one hand and video camera in the other…we were ready! The bus pulled up and we all cheered…but off came the middleschoolers. Wrong bus! Ok…next one for sure. Next bus comes…YAY!!! Nope…drives right off. By this point we were cracking up! The kids on the bus thought we were crazy! Eventually our little girl came off a bus and this mamma was happy to have her home safe and sound!

This year, my upcoming Kindergartener is super excited about his first ride on the bus! I wonder if we’ll have the same experience again??!!

Here’s a few tips for getting ready for the school year:

1. ORGANIZE. I can’t stress how much easier you life will be if you have a plan in place for the new year.

2. Have a place for your kiddo’s stuff – backpacks, jackets, shoes, etc… They need to be put in the same place daily.

3. Class supply list – make sure to get your kiddo’s stuff together early for the school year. They will feel ready and prepared for a fresh start and you’ll feel great knowing they are ready!

4. Label. Label. Label! Kids WILL lose things. It helps to have a label on things so that when they are turned into the office or if another child tries to claim your child’s hat, a quick glance and the teacher will know where it belongs!

Put a label on it! Kick off the school year right and prevent unnecessary mishaps. Reply below for $5 off your Bright Star Kids order.
