  • Strawberry pie filling – The sweet, fruity base that gives this dessert its bold berry flavor.
  • Cream cheese – Adds rich, creamy pockets throughout the cake for that cheesecake effect.
  • Cake mix A dry yellow or white cake mix creates the buttery, crumbly topping.
  • Unsalted butter – Helps the cake mix bake into a golden, crisp topping.
  • Optional toppings – Fresh strawberries, whipped cream, or powdered sugar for serving.

Variations

  • Switch up the flavors. Use any type of pie filling to make a new, tasty cheesecake dump cake. Blueberry pie filling, cherry pie filling, and peach pie filling will all work well.
  • Make it chocolate. Swap the vanilla cake mix for chocolate cake mix to make a super decadent chocolate-covered strawberry cheesecake dump cake.
  • Add some crunch. After spreading the strawberry filling in the bottom of the dish, sprinkle 1/2 cup of chopped nuts on top of the filling for some added flavor and a little bit of crunch.
