4 Money Saving Tips for Grocery Shopping that can help save you time, money and keep your sanity!

  1. Create A Meal Plan

One way to take all the confusion out of saving money each week is to create a  Meal Plan around the food items you already have in your pantry and fridge and to buy items on sale at your local grocery store. Creating a Meal Plan isn’t hard when you know how. Check out my recent post that explains it all –  7 Easy Tips To Create A Meal Plan

2. Inventory Your Kitchen

Always do a quick check of your pantry, fridge and freezer to see what you have on hand. Making an inventory of what you do have is important so that you don’t pick up extra items at that store that you don’t need and to ensure you’re not wasting money or that extra food will go bad before you can use it.

3. Plan Your Meals Around What You Already Have On Hand

Once you’ve done an inventory – create your week’s meals from what you already have on hand. If you know you have chicken breasts, salad and potatoes – there’s a meal! If you have a chuck roast and buttered noodles – grab some veggies to add to your roast for pot roast -there’s another meal! If you have oatmeal – grab some nuts and maple syrup to go on top for breakfast one day. See how this works? You may have to be creative, but you can create meals from what you have and by grabbing a few things to add to it to make a meal plan each week!

4. Check Your Store’s Digital Apps for Deals

One of the best ways to save money on food prices without clipping actual coupons is to use a digital app. Most grocery stores now offer apps that have digitalized coupons that are personalized for you each week, online ads and you can even create a shopping list! Each time you go, you can check your app and shop from there. Some of those apps will keep track of it all for you and even save your receipts online. I love Target’s Cartwheel app for all things in my home from food to paper products and more! Check it out if you haven’t!
