Want to make waffles but only have pancake mix? Here’s a step-by-step guide on how to transform pancake mix into fluffy waffles.
How to Make Waffles From Pancake Mix

I love making waffles for breakfast, especially on the weekends when I can deck them all out with toppings.
Fluffy Waffles, Strawberry waffles, Nutella fruit waffles, and chocolate waffles are some of my favorite dishes when I feel like dishing up a sweet treat first thing in the morning.
However, making waffles from scratch isn’t always on the table. So when I want to make waffles fast, I hack the system and use my pancake mix.
Here’s the best way to turn pancake mix into tasty waffles.
Ingredients Needed For Waffles with Pancake Mix

Get crispy golden waffles by using boxed pancake mix and a few pantry staples. Here’s what you’ll need.
- Vanilla extract – This is optional, but will enhance the flavor of the mix.
- Pancake mix – Use your favorite pancake mix.
- 1 egg
- Melted butter – Allow the butter to cool to room temperature.
- Milk – I like to use 2% milk, but any kind will do.
How To Make Waffles with Pancake Mix

- Preheat the waffle iron. Let the waffle iron warm up while you mix the batter.
- Mix the batter. In a large bowl, combine the pancake mix, egg, melted butter, and vanilla and mix until smooth.
- Rest the batter. Let the batter rest for 2-3 minutes.
- Grease the waffle iron. Lightly coat the waffle iron with a non-stick spray.
- Make the waffles. Pour the batter into the oven, making sure it spreads out easily. Close the lid and cook for 3-5 minutes, until golden brown and crispy.
- Serve and enjoy. Remove the waffles from the iron and serve with syrup or your favorite topping.
Variations

These waffles are easy to transform and customize to your liking. Switch it up and try a new variation each time you make the waffles.
Extra fluffy waffles – Beat the egg separately before adding it to the batter.
Extra crispy waffles – Add an additional tablespoon of oil to the batter.
Mix in – Chop up fruit or add chocolate chips to the waffle batter.
Buttermilk – Swap in buttermilk for an extra rich flavor.
Tips For Success

Don’t skip preheating the waffle iron. Allowing the tool to warm up will make the batter crispy and allow for a more even cook.
Add on the non-stick spray! This will keep the waffles from sticking to the waffle iron.
