One of the luxuries I haven’t experienced much is traveling without kids, but for my 40th birthday, my husband planned a getaway to Chicago that was just right AND sans kids.
Our weekend started off on a Friday and as we took a 3-hour Amtrak train ride to Chicago to celebrate my big 4-0. I loved not having to worry about traffic or parking. I’m all about making things easier and NOT dealing with Chicago traffic!
And the great thing is that the train station is right near Virgin Hotels Chicago! Just a short Lyft ride and we were there!

The great thing about Virgin Hotels Chicago is that it’s a unique experience from the time you walk in the door. The staff is laid back and more than accommodating from beginning to end. And would you believe there are NO check in or check out times?! YES! You can be on your own time. Nobody else’s.
Virgin Hotels Chicago “Chambers”
The rooms are amazing! Spacious, comfortable, and modern. Virgin Hotels has “Chambers” which includes two rooms – one for dressing that includes a bathroom and separate shower that would fit your whole family in – IF you had them. But you won’t because this is somewhere to enjoy with your spouse or close friends so that you can enjoy all that they have to offer.
The bedroom/sleeping lounge has a big comfy bed, TV, mini fridge with prices that you’d find at 7-11 plus, huge windows to enjoy the Chicago skyline since you’re RIGHT DOWNTOWN. The two rooms are separated by sliding doors so that you can have privacy if needed. Order room service from bed! Just slide the doors closed and they’ll bring it right in without ever even seeing you!
This perfect location allows you to walk to wherever you want to go – Magnificent Mile Millennium Park and, Chicago Theatre. And if you need to go somewhere else, the “L” is right across the street!
Virgin Hotels Chicago has about everything you’d need right there, so you could definitely check in and not leave for the entire weekend!
Virgin Hotel Chicago Bar, Diner, and Coffee
Virgin Hotels Chicago has all of your dining needs covered! Two Zero Three Coffee and Wine Bar, Miss Ricky ‘s Diner, Commons Club have all you need from morning until night, all right in the hotel. You don’t even have to leave your room with room service from morning until night. Just use your mobile app to order! WOW! Plus if you go during the warmer months, you can enjoy the Cerise Rooftop Bar. I CANT WAIT to go back in the summer and enjoy that!
Commons Club with Chef Moosah Reaume
OH and the food. The food at Commons Club is THE BEST I’ve ever had. Chef Moosah Reaume and his staff know how to give you an amazing dining experience with contemporary American Cuisine. Enjoy the FREE Social Hour for drinks from 5-6pm and then head to a table for amazing dishes such as Coconut Shrimp Toast (my favorite!), Beet Salad, Short Ribs, Fillets or the Uncommon Burger! You can check out the whole menu HERE. It’s a must-not-miss EVEN if you’re not staying at Virgin Hotels. Stop by for an amazing evening and food!
I was lucky enough to be able to sit right outside the kitchen and watch Chef Moosah two nights in a row. WOW! The food is WORLD CLASS! It’s hard to really give you a picture of it because it was more than amazing.
