How To Make Basic Cake Pops

Here is a simple “How To” on making Basic Cake Pops. This is a fun and easy project you can complete on your own or with your kids!

Use this Pound Cake from Cake Mix to make your Cake Pops. It’s the perfect consistency for successful results.

Step 1

Cut cake made in a 9 x 13 x 2 in. Sheet Pan in half. In large mixing bowl, use hands or potato masher to crumble the cake half until no large chunks remain. Freeze the other cake half for another time.

Crumble into very fine pieces.

Step 2

Add 1/2 cup of creamy icing. Wilton Creamy Decorator Icing works well along with most brands of ready-to use icing. Blend in icing completely with spatula until it is completely combined and holds together cake crumbs.

Step 3

Fill measuring spoon or a cookie scoop with a tablespoon size or larger, depending on what you’d like. Roll back and forth in hands until you create a smooth round ball – like you would to make a snowball.

Step 4

Place cake balls on a cookie sheet or baking pan lined with Parchment Paper. Chill for at least 2 hours before inserting lollipop sticks.

Next you’re ready to dip your Cake Pops. Wilton makes a Chocolate Pro Candy Pot that is excellent for melting candies or chocolate to dip your pops into. I love using it for these Easy Cake Pops too!

So easy…even my 5 year old can do it!

Step 5

Dip the end of your Cookie Treat or Lollipop Stick in Candy Melts melted in the Chocolate Pro Melting Pot, or in Candy Dips. Chill on baking sheet for at least another 2 hours until firm.

Step 6

Holding the stick securely, dip pop into melted Candy Melts or Candy Dips. Tap pop lightly to smooth surface. Place pops in Pops Decorating Stand or Styrofoam. Chill for 10-15 minutes.
