Minus the fact that Winter is right around the corner, Fall has to be one of my favorite times of year. The sun is always warm and golden and the air is cool and crisp – usually!

This weekend was warm – unseasonably warm for this time of year! I’m not sure of the exact temperature, but it had to be above 80 degrees at times. But, that didn’t stop us from doing all the “Fall-ish” things we  this time of year.

Saturday morning, we headed to our old home town of Carlinville for Broom Orchard’s Annual Pumpkin Festival. There was a petting zoo, pony rides, a corn maze, hay rides and of course,  a PUMPKIN Patch!

The kids had a ball and I couldn’t wait to leave! Haha! It was H.O.T – HOT! I know, I’m a wimp, but there wasn’t much shade and it’s wasn’t very enjoyable. But, we did stay about an hour and got plenty of good pictures! It’s all about making memories, right?! Right.

Saturday night was the Hot Dog Roast at Ella’s preschool and we had so much fun! I took Sausage Balls to share and they were a hit! (You can check out my easy recipe and make them for your next party on my last post.)   It was a perfect night for hanging out with friends and making new friends. The kids ran and played all night until we couldn’t see them from the darkness anymore.

I made my favorite Apple Crisp on Sunday. It was delicious. This year I used Blushing Beauty apples.

Aren’t they beautiful?

I used about 6 or 7 of them in my dish and the crisp came out perfect. Check out my recipe and try it for yourself. It comes out perfect every time. I promise.

The kids even loved it – well worth the 10 minutes it took to put it together and the 30 minutes it took to bake.

Well, the kids are in bed and it’s about time for Brothers and Sisters to come on – I just love that show. It’s been a fun-filled busy weekend, but tomorrow is a holiday and we’re off of work and school. Can’t wait to sleep in and have no where to be.

Happy Columbus Day or Thanksgiving or whatever holiday you celebrate. And if you don’t have a holiday to celebrate – Happy Monday!
