It’s shoebox time! Operation Christmas Child with Samaritan’s Purse is underway!

This is one of our family’s favorite time of the year! We love to pack up shoeboxes full of gifts and necessities for a child in the world that may not otherwise have a Christmas. What better way to show love to someone by providing them with a special gift that also shares God’s love with them?!

This year we packed three boxes – one from each of our children. Ella did one for a girl her age and the same with Andrew and Sydney. We love to go shopping together and picking out items that will go in our boxes and the kids even share some of their personal items with the children. Packing up a shoebox is easy and can even be done online.

I think that’s a great way to teach giving from the heart. Ella packed up some of her nicer play jewelry and a few little toys, Andrew packed in some of his prized football cards, a book and some little play figures and Sydney put in a couple little stuffed toys that she loves. It just fills my heart to see how excited they all get to do this every year.

We dropped our shoeboxes off at our church this year, where they collected over 940 boxes to be donated to Samaritan’s Purse! WOW! That is amazing to me and shows the spirit of our church family!

Collection week ends on the 25th BUT it’s not too late for you to join in and donate your own shoebox!  Check out the video online from the Veggie Tales on packing a shoe box and then go to the links to find out your closest drop off location OR just pack one online! Fill it full of items YOU chose and have it shipped right online! Can’t get much easier than that and you’ll be making a child’s Christmas so much more special!
