Buttermilk Pound Cake

This easy Buttermilk Pound Cake recipe comes together with less than ten ingredients in just over an hour. 

3 cups flour ¼ teaspoon baking soda ½ teaspoon salt 1 cup butter 3 cups granulated sugar 6 eggs 1 lemon, juiced and zested 2 teaspoons vanilla extract 1 cup buttermilk 


Whisk flour, baking soda, and salt. Beat butter and sugar for about five minutes or until light and fluffy, and well combined.


Add the eggs one at a time. Add the juice and zest from the lemon, and mix again. Add the vanilla extract, and mix until smooth. 


Alternate the flour mixture and buttermilk. Mix until smooth, and blend in the rest of the flour just until smooth. Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan.


Bake for 65-70 minutes. The top should be golden brown and the cake will pull away from the edges of the pan.


Let the cake cool for about 15 minutes in the pan. Then, flip it out onto a plate or wire rack. Dust with powdered sugar, and enjoy!
