Hot ham pie is the savory, satisfying dinner we all need this winter! It’s easy to put together and it’s a guaranteed hit with the whole family.

Onion Celery Garlic Unsalted butter All-purpose flour Chicken broth or stock Whole milk Nutmeg Frozen mixed vegetables Cooked ham Parsley Kosher salt & black pepper Frozen pie crust

INGREDIENTS

Cook onion and celery for 4 minutes. Add garlic and continue to cook for 2 minutes. Add flour and cook for 2 minutes. Slowly pour in the chicken stock and milk and whisk until the sauce thickens.

1

Add nutmeg, then reduce the heat to a simmer and cook for 5 minutes. Stir in the mixed vegetables; remove from heat and let the filling sit for 10 minutes. Add the ham and parsley, then season to taste. Pour the filling into the pie dish.

2

Roll out the pie dough until it’s an inch larger than your dish. Place the rolled out dough onto the top of the pie pan; crimp the edges to seal them and cut several slits to vent the top.

3

Bake for 35 to 40 minutes, or until the crust is browned and the filling is bubbling up through vents. Let the pie rest for 10 minutes then serve.

4

The combination of savory ham, vegetables, and a creamy sauce makes for a delicious and filling dinner, especially for chilly winter evenings.
