Mixing bowls
measuring spoons
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 small onion, diced
- 2 cups frozen mixed vegetables (optional)
- 1 can (10.5 oz) cream of mushroom soup
- ½ cup sour cream
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
- 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 bag (32 oz) frozen tater tots
Preheat your oven to 375°F.
In a large skillet, cook the ground beef and onion over medium heat until the beef is browned and the onion is softened. Drain any excess grease.
Stir in the cream of mushroom soup, sour cream, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. If using frozen mixed vegetables, stir them in now.
Transfer the beef mixture to a greased 9x13-inch baking dish and spread it into an even layer.
Sprinkle 1 cup of shredded cheddar cheese over the beef mixture.
Arrange the frozen tater tots in a single layer on top of the cheese.
Bake in the preheated oven for 35-40 minutes, or until the tater tots are golden brown and crispy.
Remove from the oven and sprinkle the remaining cheddar cheese over the tater tots. Return to the oven for 5 minutes, or until the cheese is melted.
Serve hot and enjoy!
- Don’t overcrowd the tots: Space helps them crisp instead of steam.
- Let it rest: A 5–10 minute rest helps it slice cleanly.
- Drain off the excess grease: You don't want a soggy, greasy casserole!
