Cake flour Sugar Salt Baking powder Baking soda Butter Buttermilk Vegetable oil Egg whåites Vanilla extract Pink gel food coloring Powdered sugar Milk

INGREDIENTS

Start by preheating your oven to 350ºF. Grease and flour two 8-inch cake pans.

1

Add the cake flour, sugar, salt, baking powder, and baking soda. Add the room temperature butter and mix until the dry ingredients look like wet sand.

2

Add a little bit of the buttermilk and vegetable oil. This will wet the dry ingredients and help soften the proteins in the flour.

3

Whisk the rest of the buttermilk, egg whites, vanilla, and food coloring in a separate small bowl. Slowly pour this into the bowl with the flour mixture.

4

Bake for 35-40 minutes. Let the cakes cool before turning them out of the pans.

5

Beat the butter and powdered sugar together until light and fluffy. Add the milk and vanilla and mix well.

6

Spread about half of the frosting on top of one of the layers of cake. Place the second layer of cake on top of the frosting.

7

Spread the rest of the frosting on top of the cake and around the sides, then decorate the cake however you’d like!
