Ingredients

  • 2 cups self-rising flour
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, cold
  • ½ cup sour cream
  • ½ cup 7UP soda
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter (for brushing)

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 450°F (230°C).
  • In a large mixing bowl, add the self-rising flour.
    2 cups self-rising flour
  • Cut the cold unsalted butter into small cubes and add it to the flour. Use a pastry cutter or your fingertips to cut the butter into the flour until it resembles coarse crumbs.
    ½ cup unsalted butter, cold
  • Add the sour cream to the bowl and mix it into the flour and butter mixture.
    ½ cup sour cream
  • Gradually pour in the 7UP soda while stirring the mixture. Stir just until the dough comes together. Be careful not to overmix.
    ½ cup 7UP soda
  • Transfer the dough onto a lightly floured surface. Gently knead the dough a few times until it becomes smooth.
  • Roll out the dough to about 1/2-inch thickness. You can use a rolling pin or simply pat it down with your hands.
  • Using a biscuit cutter or a round cookie cutter, cut out biscuits from the dough. Place the biscuits on a baking sheet, leaving a little space between each biscuit.
  • Brush the tops of the biscuits with melted butter.
2 tablespoons melted butter (for brushing)
  • Bake the biscuits in the preheated oven for about 10-12 minutes, or until they turn golden brown on top.
  • Once baked, remove the biscuits from the oven and let them cool for a few minutes.
  • Serve the 7UP biscuits warm and enjoy them as a delicious side dish for breakfast, brunch, or any meal.
