Ingredients

Cobbler Batter

  • 6 tablespoons butter
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1 ½ teaspoons baking powder
  • ¼ teaspoons salt
  • ¾ cup sugar
  • 2 tablespoons cocoa powder
  • ½ cup whole milk
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract

Topping

  • ¼ cup cocoa powder
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 ½ cups boiling water

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F.
  • Place the butter in an 8” square baking dish then place the dish in the oven while it is preheating to let the butter melt. It should be melted in about 3-4 minutes.
  • Make the cobbler first by whisking the flour, baking powder, salt, sugar, and cocoa powder together.
  • Whisk in the milk and vanilla and stir until smooth.
  • Pour the cobbler batter into the baking dish with melted butter.
  • Make the topping by whisking the topping cocoa powder and sugar together. Sprinkle this mix over the cobbler batter in the cake pan.
  • Slowly pour the boiling water over the entire cobbler and topping. It will look very wet but that is okay!
  • Carefully put the pan back into the oven and bake for 30 minutes.
  • Scoop the warm cobbler onto plates or bowls then top with fresh whipped cream.
