Unsalted butter Water Unsweetened cocoa powder All-purpose flour Granulated sugar Baking soda Kosher salt Sour cream Eggs Vanilla extract
Boil the butter, cocoa powder, and water. Whisk together the flour, sugar, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
Beat the sour cream, eggs, and vanilla until smooth. Set this aside, too. Add the egg mixture to the dry ingredients and stir to combine. Pour the boiling cocoa mixture into the batter and stir to combine.
Bake. Boil milk, cocoa, and butter. Remove from the heat and stir in the powdered sugar.
Pour the hot icing over the hot cake, then smooth it with a spatula. Cool then serve.
