INGREDIENTS

Heat the oil over medium-high heat. Add the sausage and break it up with a wooden spoon as it cooks.

Stir butter, celery, onion, apple, sage, and rosemary into the skillet. Cook until the vegetables are soft and the sausage is fully cooked. Season with salt and pepper.

Remove the pan from the heat and stir in the broth and beaten egg. Add the stuffing mix and stir to combine, then transfer the mixture to the prepared baking dish.

Cover the dish with foil and bake for 15 minutes, then remove the foil and bake for 15 to 20 minutes more.

In addition to the usual bread cubes, celery, onions, and herbs, this stuffing is loaded with meaty Italian sausage and chunks of baked apples.
