Old Fashioned Red Velvet Cake

Ingredients

cake flour sifted

DUTCH PROCESS Cocoa Powder

eggs
1 1/2
cups
sugar
1 1/2
cups
vegetable oil
1
tsp
vanilla
1
tsp
red gel food coloring
1
TBS
vinegar
2
tsp
baking soda
1
cup
buttermilk
Instructions
Preheat oven to 350 degrees
Lightly grease a 13x9 cake pan
Whisk together cake flour, cocoa and salt.
With an electric mixer, combine sugar and oil until combined.
Add eggs one at a time just until combined.
Mix in vanilla and red food gel slowly.
Alternate flour and buttermilk in three batches – mixing well between each addition.
Stir together the vinegar and baking soda in a separate bowl and add to batter. Mix until combined.
Bake at 350 degrees for 30-35 minutes or until toothpick inserted towards center comes out clean
Cool on wire racks before frosting
