Ham & Bean Soup is a classic soup recipe that’s hearty, satisfying, and full of flavor.
It’s so easy to make and it’s perfect for meal prep because it freezes beautifully!
Olive oil Carrot Onion Celery Garlic Cooked ham Chicken stock Bay leaf Fresh thyme leaves Cannellini beans Salt & black pepper
Set a Dutch oven over medium-high heat and add the olive oil. Stir in the onion, carrots, and celery and cook until soft, ~5 minutes.
1
Add the garlic and cook until it’s fragrant. Add the ham and cook, stirring constantly, for 2 to 3 minutes.
2
Pour in the chicken stock, bay leaf, and thyme; bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce the heat to a simmer. Stir in the beans and continue to simmer for 20 minutes.
3
Remove the bay leaf from the pot and season to taste before serving. Ladle into bowls and enjoy!

This version is my family’s favorite Ham & Bean Soup because it’s hearty, filling, and super flavorful, with smoky ham and tender white beans.
