  • Pork shoulder
  • Dried oregano
  • Ground cumin
  • Black pepper
  • Onion
  • Garlic
  • Orange juice
  • Shredded orange peel – This adds such a fun citrus flavor! 
  • Lime juice
  • Chipotle pepper in adobo sauce
  • Oil

For the tacos 

  • Corn or flour tortillas
  • Limes
  • Crumbled cojita, Mexican cheese – You can also use other types of cheese as well. 
  • Pica de Gallo
  • Guacamole 
  • Mango salsa
  • Pineapple
  • Toppings – Add any other toppings that you like! 

Variations

Pork Shoulder 

Trim off any excess fat before adding to the slow cooker. Pork shoulder is the best cut of meat to use for this recipe because it’s easy to shred once cooked.

How to make pulled pork tacos

1. Whisk

In a small bowl, whisk together the dried oregano, cumin, salt, and pepper

2. Rub

Rub seasoning mixture onto pork shoulder on all sides

3. Add

Add onion, garlic, orange juice and peel, lime juice and chipotle pepper to slow cooker

Place pork on top

4. Cover

Cover and cook on low for 4-6 hours or until internal temperature is 145 degrees F

5. Cool

Remove pork from slow cooker onto a cutting board, let cool slightly

6. Shred

Shred pork with forks

7. Heat

Heat oil in large skillet on the stove

8. Cook

Add pork and some of the juice from the slow cooker

Turn often to brown the pork until juices have evaporated

Repeat with more pork if your skillet doesn’t hold all of it

9. Serve

Serve immediately with tortillas and toppings

Store leftovers in the refrigerator

  • 3-4 pound pork shoulder, trimmed slightly
  • 1 ½ teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
