INGREDIENTS

  • Pork Roast – The bigger the roast, the more pulled pork you’re going to have!
  • Salt
  • Black pepper
  • Garlic powder – You can never have too much garlic!
  • Paprika – Sprinkle a bit as it goes a long way!
  • Dr. Pepper – This is the star of the show so don’t leave out the can! We’ve always used regular but I would assume that Diet would work the same, too.
  • BBQ Sauce – Choose the type that you love and use it!

Variations

The best part about making this shredded meat is that it has so much flavor! You could always add a dab of liquid smoke, a dash of cayenne pepper, or even add diet Dr. pepper to make the juicy meat, too.

HOW TO MAKE DR. PEPPER CROCK POT PULLED PORK

1. Season the Pork Roast

Rub the outside of the roast with salt, pepper, paprika, and garlic powder.

2. Add to the crock pot

Pour the Dr. Pepper over the pork and cook on high for 4-5 hours or on low for 7-8 hours until tender.

3. Shred the pork

Using two forks, shred the pork and place it back into the juices.

4. Add BBQ sauce 

Add BBQ sauce to taste and allow to cook an additional 30 minutes, if desired.

5. Serve

Serve on buns and top with coleslaw.

TIPS FOR SUCCESS

  • Before adding in the BBQ sauce, make certain to taste it first to ensure that it’s something your family would like to eat. If not, you might be wasting a lot of food!
  • You don’t have to cook the pork for an additional 30 minutes once you add the BBQ sauce if you don’t want to. It can help it enhance the flavor more, though.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days. Or add to a freezer back and put in the freezer for later.
  • This slow cooker Dr Pepper is the perfect recipe to feed a crowd. Just have some extra hamburger buns or bread rolls because it’s going to be a family favorite.

  • 1 2-3 pound pork roast

  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
