Easy Pigs in a Blanket Recipe

When I’m hosting a holiday get-together, I always make one or two warm appetizers like Pigs in a Blanket, Sausage Cream Cheese Crescent Rolls, Cocktail Meatballs, Rotel Dip, or Veggie Pizza. Maybe it’s because it’s cold outside, or maybe it’s because everyone loves loading up a plate full of toasty snacks at a holiday party!

If you want to get a head start on this recipe, you can assemble the Pigs in a Blanket up to a day in advance and let them sit in the fridge until your party. Then, just pop them in the oven and bake them until the crescent dough is puffy and golden. Serve with a gourmet-style dipping sauce for a super easy holiday appetizer everyone will love!

FAQ

Are pigs in a blanket the same as hot dogs?

Nope! Pigs in a blanket are made with mini sausages called Little Smokies and crescent roll dough. Hot dogs are much bigger!

Are pigs in a blanket served hot or cold?

Once you’ve baked them, pigs in a blanket are safe to eat either hot or cold, but I think they’re best warm because the dough is soft and crispy on the outside.

Can pigs in a blanket be frozen?

Yes, you can freeze pigs in a blanket either before or after you bake them. If you freeze them before, you can bake them from frozen and just add a little extra time in the oven, or you can let them thaw in the refrigerator and then bake.

Can you microwave pigs in a blanket?

You can reheat pigs in a blanket by microwaving them, but when you initially make them, they’ll need to be baked in the oven so the crescent dough gets nicely browned.
