Mother’s Day is right around the corner so it’s time to get started on those handmade gifts that mom and grandma love so much!
Here’s one of my all-time favorite crafts that is simple to make plus an adorable keepsake that can be kept on your porch all summer long! This Mother’s Day Handprint Flowerpot is sure to be one of your favorites for years to come!
DIY Mother’s Day Handprint Flower Pot
Here’s the how-to make this Mother’s Day Craft with Kids!
- First – gather your craft supplies that can be picked up at any big box or craft store – or even from your shed!
You’ll need:
- terracotta pot
- your favorite acrylic paints
- foam brushes
- your favorite flower – real or artificial
2. Next, using your paint and foam brush, paint the flower pot on the outside. You may need two coats to get your desired color since the pot absorbs some of the paint. Let your flower pot dry completely before moving on to the next step.
3. Once your pot is dry – chose a coordinating color and paint your kiddo’s hand and carefully place it on your flower pot and pull it away to create an adorable handprint.
See…super cute! I then took a chalk pen and wrote “mom” on the rim of the flower pot. You could use paint if you’re really artsy, a marker or just leave it blank. Totally up to you!

because you can erase and start over if you mess up! I need a little forgiveness when it comes to these kinds of things. I blame in on being left-handed. It really is a right-handed world! haha!
Once you let it all dry completely – you’re ready to place your favorite flower in the flower pot. I chose these purple Violas that just scream “Spring!”. Plus – they are really hardy and easy to keep looking nice and fresh!
To make this Mother’s Day flower pot extra special, make a little flower cut out with fancy scrapbook paper
and place your sweet child’s face right in the middle, attach with a hot glue gun
to a bamboo stick or flower stake and stick it right in the flower pot. So. Very. Cute!
