Ingredients For Ham and Cheese Swiss Sliders

See recipe card below this post for ingredient quantities and full instructions.

  • Rolls – These tasty ham sliders just wouldn’t be the same without mini sweet bread sandwich rolls! My brand of choice is King’s Hawaiian bread, but you can use any sweet bread you like.
  • Ham – For the best results, I recommend using thinly sliced cooked deli ham. Feel free to change things up, or add some variety by including other deli meats, like turkey or roast beef.
  • Swiss – Sliced baby Swiss cheese is perfect for this recipe! I prefer to keep the slices super thin, similar to the ham, so that the mini-sandwiches don’t end up over-stuffed.
  • Condiments and seasonings – I used Dijon mustard, Worcestershire sauce, and melted butter for the mixture that is spread on top of the sliders before baking. I also like to add poppy seeds on top! You can also add a little bit of mayonnaise to the ham and Swiss sliders before baking.

Variations

  • Switch up the condiments, and choose your favorite spread to go on the sliders.
  • Go for more layers on the sliders, and add pickles to the mix.
  • If you want to give your tastebuds a spicy treat, add hot sauce to the mayo for a bit of heat.

How To Make Ham and Swiss Cheese Sliders

  1. Preheat the oven: First, preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Then, grease a 9×13-inch baking dish with non-stick spray.
  2. Mix the ingredients: Next, in a bowl or large liquid measuring cup, mix together the butter, Dijon mustard, Worcestershire sauce, and poppy seeds.
  3. Build your sandwich: Then, begin building your sandwiches. Separate the tops from the bottoms of the rolls, and place the bottom pieces into the baking dish.
  4. Layer the ingredients: Now lay half the cheese on the bottom of the rolls, and top with ham. Place the remaining Swiss cheese over the ham.
  5. Add the mayo: After that, spread the underside of the top of the buns with mayonnaise. Then, place the tops of the rolls onto the ham and Swiss sandwiches.
  6. Top with butter: Lightly brush the top and sides of the rolls with the butter mixture with a pastry brush. Then, pour the remaining butter sauce into the bottom of the dish.
  7. Put it in the oven: Finally, place your ham and Swiss cheese sliders in the preheated oven, and bake until the rolls are lightly browned and the cheese has melted. This should take about 20 minutes.
  8. Enjoy: Now you get to enjoy your tasty sliders! Slice them into individual servings, and serve them with your favorite sides.

Quick Tip

Want to add more deli meat to the sliders? Go for it! Customize the sliders according to your deli meat preferences.

How To Store Ham and Swiss Cheese Sliders

These sliders are best served right away as they tend to get soggy when stored for later. However, if you have leftovers, they can be transferred to an airtight container and stored in the fridge for up to three days. I don’t recommend freezing this recipe as mayo won’t thaw well.

To serve, warm your sliders covered in the oven at 350 degrees Fahrenheit just until heated through.

Quick Tip

If you’re planning on making these sliders in advance, I recommend leaving off the condiments. This will help prevent them from becoming soggy in the fridge!

FAQs

What do you serve with sliders?

Ham and Swiss sliders go great with so many different recipes. Keep things light, and serve them your favorite veggie sides, like steamed broccoli or roasted asparagus. You can also add your favorite chips, some homemade French fries, or even potato salad to make an easy lunch.

These sliders are great for a BBQ or potlucks and really do pair with just about anything. If you serve this for your guests, they’re going to love them. There’s a reason these ham and slider buns are so popular!

How do you keep sliders warm?

For a short-term solution, keep your sliders in the same container, and cover them with foil. If you need to keep your sliders warm for a longer period of time, wrap them individually with foil, and set them in a crockpot on warm to keep warm.

Can you make ham and cheese sliders without poppy seeds?

Sure! Just omit them from the recipe. Your sliders will still taste great!

Misleading. I specified that I wanted a no-cook and / or no-bake sandwich. After I had finally thought that I had found a decent sandwich I made the shocking discovery that you have to BAKE IT. To say the least I was disappointed-my Spring Tea will be on April 20 and even the stores do not have the kind of sandwiches that I want.
