HI everyone! Sorry for the lack of posts last week. It seems that the first week of Summer vacation for the kids proved to be really busy! We had a house full of daycare kiddos, plus my own AND we had Andrew’s 6th Birthday party.

You know me and birthday parties! I L.O.V.E. them so much! This year, Andrew only wanted a few friends and a trip to a local play place called Ergadoozy. If you’re local, check it out! It has tons of activities for toddlers up to 10ish, I would say. It was fun and the perfect place to take a bunch of 6 year old boys who love to run and jump and be crazy! So, we started off at our house for a warp speed party with pizza, presents and cake and then headed into Ergadoozy for the evening. So much fun!

I’ve also discovered a new love that I just have to tell you all about! You know how much I love decorating, painting and redoing furniture, well I have discovered a new paint that I just love – Annie Sloan Chalk Paint! Yes, I know it’s not new – but until now, I haven’t tried it and boy, do I love it!

Annie Sloan Chalk Paint

Chalk paint isn’t to be confused with chalk board paint – chalk paint is a type of paint that is eco friendly, has no VOCs, requires no prepping and comes in some amazing colors. Plus you can mix the colors yourself and come up with that perfect shade of grey. (even though Paris Grey is pretty perfect)  The paint goes on quickly and easily, dries fast and is ready for a 2nd coat almost as soon as you’re done with the first. Once you achieve the coverage you want – full, partial or a shabby distressed look, you wipe it all down with Annie Sloan’s clear wax that hardens and protects – just like a polyurethane but without the mess, smell and much easier!

Annie Sloan Wax

For my first project, I painted my chairs that are at my bar in my kitchen. I have known for a while that I wanted to paint them, but I didn’t know what method I wanted to use. I knew that spray paint would be expensive and latex might be ok. But I really was afraid it would peel off the slick chairs and I’d have to spend a lot of time prepping. Since ultimately I want to do all of my chairs – 8 total – that would take a while! So, after seeing projects on Pinterest and knowing I want to make over a bunch of other stuff, I decided to give it a try. I LOVE IT!

Duck Egg in Annie Sloan Chalk Paint

I chose Duck Egg – which is perfect with my decor! I love the blueish green color and it looks amazing in my house! I have my eyes set on several other colors for several different projects! Provence is this amazing teal color that  I am going to have to have for a chair that I’m making over into an outside planter and for a little wall shelf. The perfect pop of color!

Projects

I’ll be posting some tutorials on using chalk paint soon, but for now I wanted to share how much I’m loving it right now! I document it all over on Instagram if you want to follow me there! Lots of photos and info!

Ok…I’m off to wax my 2nd chair so that we can have seats at the bar again! Have a great Monday!
