When I became a mother, I suddenly wanted to do things not only differently but better. Things I didn’t  think about before were now in the front of my mind…” What are the ingredients in that food?” “I don’t want to put that on her skin, I have no idea what those chemicals are!” “Don’t spray that around her…the stuff in it could make her sick!” The list can go on and on. Sound familiar? I didn’t change the way I did things overnight, but I changed by taking small steps that made a big difference. I’m still learning and growing and changing the way I do things even now. I think it’s a never-ending process.

Makeover your diaper bag by using essential oils.

Last week I told you about how we are using Essential Oils to treat our family naturally whenever possible and today I’m going to show you how to makeover your diaper bag. These are just a few ways you can make small changes that can make a big difference in your and your baby’s wellbeing!

#1 Tip for Mammas – Stay Hydrated!

Dehydration can lead to exhaustion. Add essential oils, such as lemon or wild orange, to your water throughout the day to purify and uplift. It’s absolutely essential to drink lots of water daily – especially when nursing.

#2 Diaper Cream

Every diaper bag must contain a good diaper cream. One that soothes and prevents rashes is best. The recipe I’m going to share with you tomorrow is free from petroleum and artificial ingredients that can irritate delicate skin.

#3 Essential Oils

Gentle, multi-use oils like lavender and melaleuca are must haves. They can be used for multiple reasons from teething to helping to calm and restore mom and baby. TIP: have a restless baby…mix a drop of a good quality lavender essential oil with a bit of coconut oil and rub on the bottom of baby’s feet. She’ll be calm and quiet in no time! Works for mom ,too!

#4 Wipes

Commercial wipes are made with ingredients that can irritate a baby’s delicate skin. My easy homemade recipe is great on the go, too…just place wipes in a wet bag. They can be used on baby’s tushy or even on hands and face. No need to worry about chemicals getting into baby’s mouth. There’s none there!

  1. At what age can you use oils for colic. Me nephew is 1 month and cries all night.

    1. I think that using lavender from early on is acceptable BUT only if you are using a quality essential oil. I would NOT use one from the grocery store. You have no idea what is in them.

    2. i have been doing a ton of research on safe practices with essential oils and have been reading that using oils, even diluted on very young children is not reccommended. I have also seen that blends containing oils like peppermint, melalueca, Rosemary, and eucalyptus should not be used on children under the age of 6 due to one of the components of thoses oils causing respiratory slowing in children. And , yes, I mean all essential oils brands…even the super high quality ones. I use doTerra too! I just want all mamas to be safe while using these wonderful creations of nature around their little ones.

  2. Essential oils AND JJB… My kinda mama!

I love this, I can’t leave home without my oils! I love finding healthier alternatives using essential oils! #oils4everyone

    1. I agree! I hate when I’m out and think “oh man…I wish I would have brought _____ with me!” haha!
