Here’s a great idea to give as gifts this year that is affordable AND cute! “Cookies in a Jar” is perfect for gifts to teachers, friends and even neighbors.

I think these jar gifts are adorable AND they are simple to put together and easy for your recipient to bake!

Just mix the layer the ingredients below in the order given, packing down as you go. I found that if you tap the jar on the counter after you add each ingredient, it’s works better than trying to use a spoon to pack down. Once you get to the brown sugar layer, use the back of a spoon and really push down or you won’t have room for the top layer of sugar.

First: flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt
Second: oats
Third: m&ms
Fourth: chocolate chips
Fifth: brown sugar
Sixth: white sugar

Once you have all the ingredients in the jar, close the jar and add a piece of Christmas material under it to make it look pretty. I then made little card with “Merry Christmas” on the front and the instructions on the back. (Click over to Bakerella for the full recipe!)

These Jar Cookies couldn’t be easier!
