You all know how I love my essential oils for everything from stress and anxiety to earaches and skin issues – but another way that I LOVE to use my oils is for home cleaning and personal care products! They are wonderful for diaper wipes and cream, foaming hand soap, laundry soap, hand sanitizer, and much more! So, today I want to share another one of my favorite DIY recipes that I use every single day, all day long – DIY All-Natural Air Freshener!

You’ll be amazed at how much fresher you can make the air smell in your home without having to use any harsh chemicals or ingredients! If you’re ready for an all-natural recipe, you’re in the right place!

DIY All Natural Air-Freshener

How to make a natural air freshener for the home

This air freshener works so much better than any commercial air freshener in the way that it actually removes the smell instead of just covering it up. Believe me. I’ve used them all with my home daycare. (think lots and lots of poopy diapers)

Even if they say they remove smells – they don’t. They just cover them up with a horrible purfumey smell. It actually makes it worse, in my opinion. BUT, this homemade recipe does the opposite. It actually removes the smell and leaves a light fragrance that lasts just a little bit and isn’t overpowering at all.

Common Questions

Where can I use this room freshener spray?

I use this spray in the bathroom for those not so pleasant smells, the kitchen for cooking odors, in the playroom for stinky diapers and to just freshen up the house. What’s also great is that when you use Purify Oil, you’re actually killing germs and boosting your immune system in the process!

So, I will even spray it on soft surfaces like couches, toys and pillows or hard surfaces like in the bathroom or kitchen to actually kill germs!

Double whammy on those germs and odors! Purify is a combination of Lemon, Lime, Pine, Citronella, Melaleuca, and Cilantro essential oils. When diffused or sprayed, Purify Cleansing Blend can help eliminate odors from pets, cigarettes, mildew, trash, food, and much more.

Can you use essential oils for other natural home solutions?

Nothing to solubize the oils in this recipe, so they will float on top of the water. In addition, there is no preservative. You either need to add a solubizer such as Polysorbate 80 and a preservative, or blend the essential oils with 100-proof or greater alcohol and allow to meld for at least one hour before adding to distilled water. Recipes like this are what irritate me intensely about untrained people promoting themselves as essential oil or aromatherapy experts. Please do your research before sharing an unsafe recipe that will grow mold or fungus if not used immediately, and will not properly blend.

I know I don’t know why these recipes call for water oil and water do not mix just change the water for vodka 2 cups vodka in 40 to 50 drops of your role and they will go in really nicely together and you can even spray it on your Linens
