Andrew is feeling better. We’ve been to three doctors since last Thursday. First Prompt Care, then our regular Pediatrician and finally, an Allergist. The good news is that Andrew isn’t allergic to normal allergens – milk, eggs, peanuts, wheat, cats, dogs, etc… He was tested for 24 of them and they all came back OK. He didn’t even cry when they pricked him and only whined toward the end of the 20 minute waiting period to see if he reacted- he was itchy. He was such a big boy! I was one proud mamma.

It seems that either he has a rare skin condition called Dermatographic Skin – really sensitive skin OR a virus.

After posting on Facebook about the results of his skin tests, some other moms reported that their kids were suffering from the same thing but had just had a cold – which apparently sometimes happens after getting a cold. Andrew has not had a cold or the flu recently, so I’m not sure that it is it. But, I am *hoping* it is and that it just goes away on it’s own. These little hives really itch and bug him. Benadryl does do a good job at keeping the itching away, but I really hate to give him too much medicine. I’m not one to push it.

So, we’ll keep praying and waiting to see what happens. I know that I am very thankful that he wasn’t allergic to anything we’d have to restrict from his diet! He can now have as many cake pops, brownies and  omelets as he’d like! (or as many as his mom and dad will let him!)

It’s a cold, snowy day here. I heard on the Today Show that 49 out of 50 states are covered in snow. There is school. I am surprised. But, I guess that means there will be less days to make up at the end of the year. I have a feeling Ella is going to want to go outside and play when she gets home from school. But, it is soooo cold. I don’t think it will last long.

If you’re my fan on Facebook, you probably saw that I made Cream Cheese Brownies for SNAC this week. (Sunday Night after Church). They were really, really good and completely good for you. (no, not really…but I tell myself that while I’m eating them!)  This was a recipe from my mom’s cookbook which is mostly full of yummy, baked goodies. I’ll share the recipe later…so check back!

Well, I’m off to throw in a load or two of laundry….Andrew may have to wear pink jammies tonight if I don’t!

Have a great Wednesday!

  1. Yeah I heard Florida is the only state that doesn’t have snow. But it still gets around 20-30 degrees at night and 50-60 during the day. They say it’s the coldest winter they have had. They spray the orange groves at night with water so they freeze and it doesn’t hurt the harvest as much. It is a pretty neat sight to see.

So glad he is feeling better and that it isn’t an allergy.

    1. Thank you, Virginia! He is feeling better!
