Our little girl had a BIG birthday this past weekend! Sydney Grace turned 1 year old! I have no idea how a year has passed, but it has and the size and milestones of my big girl proves it! She’s walking and talking and playing and dancing and clapping. Sydney has 2 teeth and weighs over 20lbs. She loves macaroni and cheese and fruits and veggies. She’s such a happy girl and we are sooooo happy to have her in our lives!

Of course, I had to plan a party fit for a princess! I just LOVE to plan parties! All the food and decor and fun gets me giddy! Plus with a little girl, there is so much you can do! Here’s some pictures from our special day!

Syd party

All smiles for her Birthday Party! It was a FUN day!!

tabledecor

We had Sydney’s party at our church. It ended up being the perfect location for 30+ guests that are all a very important part of our lives! I, unfortunately, didn’t get many shots of the guests. After getting all the food, desserts and set-up done, I was focusing on getting shots of my sweet birthday girl. Maybe I need to hire a photographer next time! haha!

ruffle cake

I made a huge buffet of desserts with the star being this adorable Ruffle Cake that was meant to be Sydney’s smash cake. However, she wasn’t into smashing it! The cake on the upper left was a Lemon Cake decorated with a pale pink swiss meringue buttercream frosting. Sydney’s cake (that was shared by all!) was a pink and white cake on the inside and then decorated with ruffles of swiss meringue. It was adorable and yummy!! We also had several kinds of cupcakes – Chocolate with Cream Cheese Frosting, Pink and White cupcakes with Chocolate Cream Cheese Frosting and Chocolate Cupcakes with Strawberry Whipped Cream. They were all soooo good!

chalk stat board

This was Sydney’s stat board and I just loved it! I’m definitely not an artist like my mom, but I think it turned out so cute! It’s actually black foam board with chalk writing on it. So easy!

instagram photos

Here’s those Instagram photos from Persnickety Prints I told you about! I made a huge display of them across the wall behind the table. This was my most favorite decoration! You can see the whole  thing in the food table picture above.

buffet

We had the party at lunch time, so we had to have some girly food! I decorated the table with paper mache letters that spelled out ONE that I spray painted to match Sydney’s chair. For the kids we had peanut butter and jelly sandwiches cut into cupcake shapes that I got at Pottery Barn Kids. Then we had Cucumber Dill Sandwiches on Pumpernickel bread, veggie cups with dip, a Pesto Tortellini Pasta salad, veggie straw chips, salsa roll ups and animal crackers.

I labeled each dish so that everyone would know what they were having!

vintage chair

This is a vintage high chair that I scored off of Craig’s List for $10! A few coats of paint later and it was the perfect chair for Sydney to smash her cake in! It’s decorated in a fabric bunting that a friend of mine made for us PLUS a matching bib! Could it get any cuter! I’ll share the makeover of the chair on the blog soon!

Sydney wasn’t so into everyone ooooing and ahhing over her when it was time to smash the cake! haha!

But, she did get into it once everyone wasn’t looking at her so closely! LOL

I love this photo! My sweet girl is so big and happy! If you look in the background, you can see the centerpieces – each table had a different photo of Sydney and mason jars filled with Hydrangeas. Sydney even had the most adorable plastic mason jar cup to drink from that matched the others! Seriously…I need a photographer next year for these things! haha!

family party

Here we all are! My sweet family! Everyone played a part in this day coming together. We all had a wonderful time and most of all we got to celebrate Sydney’s life! What a blessing she is! Check back as I’ll be sharing individual details and tutorials on all things party!

I’ll share a bunch more photos on my Facebook page – so check that out! Also, be sure to follow me on Instagram to get up to the minute photos of our lives and all the fun stuff I share plus more photos from this party!
