Laundry – the one household chore that never seems to be over. It seems that as soon as I get what I think is the last of the laundry clean, there’s more waiting in the hamper. How does that happen? Well, if you have kids, you definitely understand!

I’M SHARING #TIDE IN MY LIFE AS PART OF A TIDE SPONSORED SERIES FOR SOCIALSTARS™

Between spills and dirt, school and sports, there’s always clothes that need to be washed. But, thankfully I’ve come up with a system that really helps me stay on top of it all AND I’m sharing those tips with you today in hopes that they’ll help you, as well!!

4 Tips to Simplify Laundry

Do One Load Of Laundry A Day

This has become my #1 tip for keeping up with the laundry in our household. I’ve tried doing it several ways – waiting until the weekend and doing all the laundry or doing the wash a few times a week – but I’ve found that doing one full load every day helps me keep on top of this household chore.

I gather all the clothes from one central hamper and take to wash every morning. Most of us wear the same colors, so this is usually pretty easy.

If there are clothes that can’t be washed with the main load I’m doing, I add it to another hamper by the washer and dryer until I have a full load. I also add underwear and pajamas to a hamper that I wash when it’s full.

I do one full load from start to finish each day –  from the wash, to dry to folding to putting away. I don’t leave the laundry in the dryer until the next day because that just seems to make me not want to do a new load since I still have clothes to put away.

Use A Quality Detergent

The secret to getting clothes really clean is to use a quality detergent that is proven effective.

I have been using the NEW  Tide Pods with Downy with 4-in-1 technology, plus Downy helps to protect your clothes from overwashing. Pop them in at any temperature and your clothes come out clean, fresh, and smelling great, all while protecting them with Downy!

Tide PODS® Plus Downy laundry detergent pacs offer the Tide clean you love, now with Downy Fabric Protect. To enjoy great cleaning results, use 4-in-1 laundry pacs to clean, brighten, fight stains and protect your clothes every time you do laundry. Tide PODS® works with both high efficiency and standard washers. Its HE Turbo technology provides 6x the cleaning power in half the time.

All you have to do is pop one pac into your HE machine BEFORE you add clothes – for extra large or soiled loads, it’s best to use 2 pacs. Easy to do and no guesswork on your part!

Get Everyone Involved

Laundry in our house is a family affair. Everyone is in charge of adding their own clothes to the hamper located in the hallway outside of the bedrooms.

I also ask everyone to make sure their clothes are turned right side out, that way I can see stains to be treated if needed. Once the laundry is done, I separate each family member’s clothes into stacks and have them put away their own clothes.

Even my 4 year old is able to put away her own clothes. Of course, I always check to make sure things are put away correctly and put into the hamper each day.

Sheets and Towels Washed On Weekends

I was sheet and towels on the weekend or as needed. Sometimes I have to throw in a load of towels during the week if we seem to go through them quickly, but most of the time it’s on the weekend.

This seems to work well and we have nice clean sheets and towels for the new week ahead.

Simplified

Keeping up with a load of laundry every day has proven very effective in keeping the mountain of laundry piles down. If I happen to miss a day when we’re really busy, I just do two the next day. It works out great!
